THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Wheel bearings? Wow, I thought you had a LOT of other things to buy before you even needed to think about those.
I want to be able to bolt the rims and tires I don't currently own onto something when it comes time.

What else do I need to buy before that? The only thing I can think of as a maybe is 4-link hardware.

If you had said that I had a lot to do before I had to worry about bolting on rims and tires, I'd agree. But as far as things left to buy...

What's wrong with your old hubs/bearings etc.?

I hate having all new stuff for mockup. I'm worried about getting dust/dirt/grime in the brand new bearings everytime I want to work on stuff.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ken needs a book on Project Management as well.

How many projects do you have going right now?

:D
lots. So many I forget about some until I find the box of parts for them.

I can't wait to be living at the house with a whole room for electronics projects and a whole back yard and basement for jeep projects.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

500 for a running SHO??? hell i'll buy it and drive it.

haha i was just gonna say that

i have a build update. propane LS1 with 400+ hp, MSD 6al box. awesome super simple fuel system on a wicked awesome SBC engine.

What is wrong with cleaned up old bearings for mockup? Heck I didn't purchase or install my bearings (and I'm sure Colin isn't either) until the absolute final assembly of the axles. Wasn't worth risking damaging $100 in bearings taking them off and on a hundred times.

What do you need?
Steel, bender, wheels, tires, tube, seats, harnesses, random engine parts, gears, paint, axle shafts, radiator, joints, doubler hardware, shifters, steering parts, bolts, nuts, etc, etc, etc.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Oh and Chris, per Carmelo:

"Tell that guy chris, $500 for a 65,000 mile 94 Ford Taurus with an automatic, running and driving."

He believe's it's a SHO will double check.

94 with an automatic would be perfect.

If it's an SHO I'm down. Could probably come up this weekend and get it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

There's nothing wrong with using what I've got for mock up (other than the fact that I already took it all apart and the races are out of the hubs), but why am I going to need to assemble the axle more than once? What's so bad about assembling it all up, sealing it, and letting it be?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

It's just more weight to shuffle around in my mind.

I don't even get why you pulled all the kingpins or anything out already.

I'd hate to worry about destroying the bearings or kingpins or anything too.

You're going to be moving that axle around a lot since you're not using any factory mounts anywhere.

I got the axle completely disassembled except for the kingpins and pinion, it's not like I tore it down completely. (I did do that to the D70 though...)

I'm sure I'll figure something out.

So you've got most of the parts now? Sweet.

Wait...I thought you pulled out the upper kingpin already...?

Weren't you calling people XXXXXXs for saying it was hard or something...?

I did pull them out, but it's not like I had to take the axle apart to get to them. I could always put them back in temporarily and just not tighten them down to a billiondy foot lbs.

And yes I did say that. The pinion nut on the D70 was more of a PITA than the kingpins.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm copying Chris's front setup when it comes time for that. Out back will be mega long soft line to the axle since I have leaves.

Im thinking of instead of having a gaint soft line, I might run the rear line down my traction bar similar to how everyone does it on the front upper link.

10 gauge was just a thickness I threw out. It's thicker than 1/8", but not as thick as 3/16".

Yeah I'd agree. The 14ga I used for my rear wheel wells is pretty damn stiff, but I wouldn't trust it for anything more than what I used it for.

You shoulda made you tubs outta 5/16" sheet metal :dunce:

Tomorrow I'll be pissing away ~$2750 on gears/axles/lockers/etc.

Hopefully, Im gunna drop around a grand on the remaining axle pieces I need very soon.

all girls are batshit

FIFY

Those are flat top knuckles machined by Lucas Murphy HIMSELF. That motherXXXXer races his shit, therefore those are racing knuckles, therefore you want to give me a dana 60 for this shit!

 DEAL!!!!

:woohoo: I got at least half that already!!

Weren't you calling people XXXXXXs for saying it was hard or something...?

:dunno: I just bought an axle that had good KP's.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I don't understand why you did ANY of that.

It's like you're avoiding fabwork.
:dunno:

It's all gotta get done. I'm not avoiding fabrication, but some nights I'd rather just deal with nuts and bolts or something.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Guess what Ross. You're not wheeling your black jeep at NACfest.
probably 2012, but I'd be shocked if he made 2011
