it's official, my jeep is now no longer on my insurance and in the garage. since i got about 6 hours of sleep at work last night (down due to 40+mph winds), i'm going to spend the rest of the afternoon tearing it apart for the 99.

edit: Rausch in the middle of april, then NACfest, here I come!

The article confuses me. First it quotes the shooter as saying "it's just pellets", then it says it says they got shells (as in shotgun shells, which would have pellets in them) from the rifle (shells don't go in a rifle, they go in a shotgun... cartridges go in a rifle.)

Between the "pellets" and the "shell" I think it was a shotgun and the newsies have no idea what in hell to call various kinds of long arms.

Cartridge is just the term for any casing, be it plastic or brass. I'll give it to you though, you made me reread the article and it is worded funny. Most people would refer to a shotgun round as a shell though.

If the shooter was shooting someone's dog I automatically don't trust whatever he says. Pellets could come from a pellet gun, but those don't leave spent casings (or make a big bang)

You're other comment about the news not knowing the difference between a shotgun and a rifle is probable too.

my unibody had dents from when my u bolts acted like bump stops. they stuck up about 3-3.5"

Definition of cartridge- A cartridge, also called a round, packages the bulet, gunpowder and primer into a single metallic case precisely made to fit the firing chamber of a firearm.

FWIW, cartridge and shell get used interchangeably in the same way magazine and clip do. People know what you mean, but they describe 2 different things.

But coming from the news, it could be a rubber band from a slingshot on the ground and they wouldn't know the difference

good lord, apparently security is agitating for my ouster because I parked my jeep on a snowbank (3 tires on the ground... 1 1.5 feet above ground on packed ice/snow) about a week ago. I hate safety nazis.

I didn't even realize they were trying to get ahold of me for a few hours because they insisted on calling my desk phone and never actually attempting to email me directly, I was in an important all-day meeting on the other side of the plant. Now they nastygrammed my boss over it, fortunately he thinks it's nearly as ridiculous as I do.
