THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Not sure what I'm doing for tires and wheels just yet, but I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ask Bill about the day I trailered his junk to VT.

I had a trailer in places it didn't belong.

I was towing a trailer when I had no right even driving really. I had my permit for all of a few days when my dad made me drive his old truck (SRW 4dr long bed 1ton) with a 16' enclosed behind it. Agressive learning curve.

eff that.

SKID STEER!!!!!!

That's another reason I think I'm going to plate my knuckles rather than buy ones like yours. They're blingin, but big $.

I keep going back and forth on mine. For now I'll cheap out and see what happens I guess. I still just dont wanna trust 4 studs though, I wanna add a 5th. I dont see myself having the skill/tooling to make a correct keyway.

so long as we're talking knuckles..

i wanna do x-over on my 44. how should i go about doing this? what knuckles can i use? heims or TREs? i'll be running ~5.5 o lift

Ford 3/4 ton knuckles (Dodge knuckles might work too) (or Reids), either heims or TRE's work. I like TRE's...

edit: what ross posted will work too. You just need to run Chevy outers. So, the big question is what bolt pattern do you want to run? 5x5.5, 6x5.5, or 8x6.5?

I never had a problem with my MOOG TREs, but I've also never run heims before so I can't compare.

Dodge outers off an '80s pickup are both flap tops and you don't have to mix/match parts to get 5x5.5. Drivers side knuckle is already drilled/milled/tapped.

The main problem with running full high steer crossover was hitting the coils during full lock either direction, and/or hitting the pitman arm/track bar bracket with the tie rod.

I'd probably run the draglink on the high steer arm on the pass side and the tie rod OTK on the knuckle.

all the ford stuff i have is mint... hubs, ball joints, brakes, hell even the pads.. its like the axle was overhauled then the motor blew on the donor truck and it was junked. and the SF60 i have is 8 lug.

guess im stuck with ford then right?

i forgot where it was, but i heard either one of you guys or one of my buddies talking about MOOG stuff.. and that theres parts made here and parts made in china and its a toss up of what you get (same PNs) and theres a HUGE difference between them

and ya, OTK tie rod, drag link on the hi steer arm is what i was thinking.

havent we taught you anything?

yup. but i'm not building a crawler. you're at ~5" lift now, dont forget that :looser:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Because traction > turning radius.

That's a valid point, but at the same time I don't want to have to do any 19 point turns.

whats so bad about a 19 point turn. IMO ill do a 19 point turn and take a little more time out of my day to save a chunk of cash. my rear is welded and lock rite up front and i dont mind it at all. sucks DDing it though.

Seems like Ford would be a good way to go, yes.

why not drag link on the hi steer arm and tie rod on the hi steer arm?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i hope outer alloy shafts remain my weak point. when those break, they dont take anything else out with em' and i can swap out shafts in about 20 minutes
