Maybe you guys can help me with a stupid question? Me and my friend are swapping a 8.8 in to his ZJ and his backing plates are effed, is that something we can pick up at a autism zone or dealer only and don't say junk yard cause all the ones around us refused to part the axles they sell them whole. thanks guys

doubt autismzone will have them. Checked rockauto and no dice there either.

what's wrong with the ones he has? As long as the metal is fine where the e-brakes attach, you can solve the rest of the problem with a pair of tin snips. disc backing plates can go to hell, mine were FUBAR too so I cut them off.

Your other bet is to pay someone up here to yank a set, the junkyard I go to sells whatever you want, hell I got all the brake hardware for a ZJ disc swap for ~60 bucks a few months ago. I'd grab em for you and send them down for cost+shipping but... they are under approximately 3 feet of snow right now.

The problem is the dust shield holds the e-brake/drum brake shoes in place and his are rusted to hell. Worst case senerio is we set up the brakes w/o the ebrake and If you can find a nice set of backing plates we can always hook it up later, but that later might be untill nac fest or if he wants to ship. Then we could always find out how much ford wants for them. Thanks Ken

yeah mine were the same plus mangled. The parts that hold the e-brake were ok however so I chopped off the rotted bent shit and said FIRI.

Carmelo, know any FSJ guys who want a stock FSJ toothpick front shaft for a restoration or something? I think I have one sitting in my storage unit, all I know is that it's spindly as hell and I have zero use for it.

The dust shield holds the ebrake shoes. I said the same thing when my friend asked about it but when we pulled it apart we had one of those oh shit moments and learned something new :twak:.
