THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

in MA your better off letting the guy rob you then pulling your gun.
I had a long talk with my father about that a few weeks ago. He knows a lot more about the laws than I do. It's sad but you/he are right, given the current laws as they stand.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I didn't think it was crooked this weekend either, FWIW.

His suggestion of not getting punched in the face again seems like a good one, though you didn't really sign up for the surprise boxing match in the dark.

haha yea. it looks 1000x better than it did saturday. i'm not carrying around a sack of acorns in my mouth anymore.

That's good to hear. I don't know how you roll, but I try not to get punched in the nose... at all.:looser:

at first i :tears:, then i :roflmao:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Off topic. What thickness is good for frame stiffeners? I'm thinking 3/16 angle. 1/8 seems too light, although would be much easierwelding to the unibody, and 1/4 just seems like more trouble between welding ease, weight, and price to justify it.

And if you pull your gun, you dont leave them alive to testify.

But its a moot point in this case. you get caught with a gun while drinking, your in deep shit

IMO, 1/8 to 3/16 or anything in between. Whatever you weld on will be way stiffer than what was already there.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

3/16 sounds fine to me. Should be decently easy to weld.

I did 1/4". 3x6 0.25" box with one narrow side cut off fits nicely over the rear frame rails. I would do 1/4" only if you presently have no floors and can rosette weld from the inside... my rosette welds came out beautiful and even got decent penetration with no blow-through, I just bored a bunch of 1/2" holes through the sides of the frame rail before sliding the box over it.

Warning, the spots where the different sections of stock frame rail are sleeved over each other and then spot welded together really like to rot out internally and will blow through easier.

Here's a hypothetical case.

You're at home, having a beer/scotch/pick-yer-drink peacefully in the comfort of your own home and some asshat breaks in. You feel your life is threatened. What happens if you draw? (Other than him dead)

That was my thought. I wanted to weld my JCR sliders to the frame but if I'm going to do that I should just put 2x6 in there and sell the sliders. Although I should have done the 2x6 in the first place

nothing more than 3/16. all my HDOffroad stuff is 1/8 i'm pretty sure.. the jeepspeed guys use 1/8" for almost everything, that seems good enough for me.

I kiss you boo-boo when we meet?

Shitload of court, paper work, and a very pissed off family. At a min I would think.

That's given whether or not you were having a drink.

^Best advice. Especially if you plan on adding a cage to tie everything together.

I used 3x3x3/16" on my MJ and it seemed a little overkill.

I'd have used 1/8" or 10 gauge.

If your in your home, just keep pulling the trigger. Nothing says you had the gun on you, and being in your home the rules are a bit different. I cant say for sure about mass, but it shouldn't be an issue.
If it comes down to it, the lawyers need to prove you had a drink before the incident, and not between the incident and when the cops arrive.
Either way, in the northeast, its probably going to end up as a messy legal battle, but any decent lawyer should have no problem defending you.

yea when stiffening the unibody, you want to add metal and make it ONE with the truck, not weld a new piece on thats a lot stronger than the original structure, then it's almost as weak as it not being braced at all.

if it's too heavy/thick, it'll just break off the body bc it won't flex with it.

All I know is for NH I would call my non emergency police station line and politely say "Why hello, Officer. A gentleman has recently attempted to break into my place of residence and he is now not with us due to a gun shot wound. I would appreciate help in disposing of this nuisance properly. My address is *insert address*.":jester:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

1/8" it is then. I will be calling my Dad to see if he has any at the shop, or placing an order soon. Should probably go measure how much I need but I'm just going to get a 20' section cut in half for extrazzzz

when the cops show up, tell them you were so distraught from killing the guy that you immediately sat down and started chugging

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Honestly I wouldn't say anything about alcohol when the cops show up, except for requesting time to speak with your lawyer and describing the guy busting the door in.

This state is a litigious mess and I see no reason to say anything potentially damaging before calming down.

Of course, if the guy has a criminal record a mile long, the cops will be referring to it as a pesticide between themselves anyways. It's the judge and jury you need to worry about.
