THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Its a 3 link essentially, not really too ghetto. Done right, it would be a sweet offroad suspension.
I get the concept, just not the reasoning behind it. Looks like you loose a lot of uptravel with the wishbone the way it is. It might be fine in the back, but it seems he forgot about the oil pan when he measured that 36" of travel
and the snow starts
This isn't even the storm, its just a random chunk of snow that split off.
It caught me in the middle of putting a belt on the truck in the driveway, 15 minutes later when I was done, it had dumped 1/2"

yeah i was gonna take it apart and mess with it, but glad i didnt

eh, for the price of the smittybilt you really can't go wrong. i can only recall MAYBE a handful of times in the past 6 years where i could of really used a winch.. other than that some shovels, friends, and another rig have all gotten me out just fine.

i just dont see myself using it all too often to justify spending that much on a winch
I'm quite glad I got a Warn.

I've used my winch every time I've been offroad since I've hooked it up. Yes, the time I used it in Swansey was because I kind of wanted to test it out, but I had to use it to pull my uncle out of the snow 2 weekends ago, and I am definitely glad I had it in the back of Sam's yard.

The thing is the upper wishbone in theory really doesn't need to move during travel. When flexing, the axle will pivot around the wishbone joint, and I can definitely see achieving close to that amount of travel without hitting the pan. You could essentially have the drivers side stuffed, then have the passenger side stuffed, with the wishbone never really moving.

X2.

The rear suspension on a WJ has pretty much the same design. The upper link has a balljoint sticking off the top of the diff housing and goes to 2 rubber bushings at the frame rails.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I would think the problem with the wishbone deal, is what joint do you run on the axle end?

That thing has to take some serious abuse, and also have some serious misalignment.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Should put you cheaper than ross right?

Yup I bet that will shut him the hell up.

He still has to sell his carrier for whatever he purchased the other one for.

We both have to buy Spartans so I'd bet it will even out.

If anything I'll be cheaper because I'm buying my locker with a bulk of other things and I'm not relying on selling a carrier.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i saw some kid gettin all sideways down my road in his mommies AWD subaru station wagon, went a little too fast and cut it too much and XXXXing tanked a huge snow bank and got stuck in someones front yard... awesome

without LSDs and/or a lot of power they're a bitch to drift well. mine was awesome in the snow on winter tires (read: had great traction, wouldnt drift for shit)

a buddy's 400whp sti with LSDs f/r however.... hehehe
