THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Dirty thoughts are brewing...

Should we have a build off, see who can finish a project first, me or Anthony?
I haven't even started red jeep yet, I bet I can still beat you guys :spin1:
See... I think Mark was just joking.

All I get is hate.

I don't think any one person gets more shit than me.
I got a decent amount of shit before I started wheeling again

i wonder what the people at work are gonna say about my face tomorrow..
tell them you beat some guy's hand up with your face

I still cant believe that dinosour pooped on us at Dave & Busters.
it nailed you guys good.

So, my day:
* go to house, quickly realize nothing is getting accomplished today. Spend most of the day digging paths in the snow so I can actually move the ladder, then shoveling 20 inches of solidified melted snow off the roof... with out becoming an avalanche target.
* realize my fingers are starting to freeze, say XXXX this, get back in the dirty POS to go home.
* put it in reverse... what's this? The tires are spinning in place at idle and I am going nowhere. Shiiiiiiiiit
* tried ebrake trick, no dice...
* put 2 of my new snow tires on, with directional tread backwards because this is a very Gallic situation
* put it in reverse and idle back out of where I was stuck. These tires rock!
* wait, but they are not balanced yet and I need to widen the centerbores a bit... time to swap em back off again!
* bottle jack tips over and gets broken under 3 wheeled jeep :smsoap: my ebrake is apparently toast and wheel chocks do nothing on ice
* get the stupid thing lifted back up and tires back on
* say f it, need to get something done today... time to head for ross/anthony's places to pick stuff up and buy stuff
* drop cellphone, which I've had for like 3 months, and completely shatter screen. Fml.
* discover halfway home that the sound I was hearing and thought was my wheel bearings continuing to disintegrate was actually a very loose wheel. Apparently some dirt was trapped under the brake drum when it fell off the jack, because I tightened the shit out of that sucker (lugs probably at least 180ftlbs, I always set them tight) and when I checked all 5 lugs were so loose I got 2 full spins in before they even touched the wheel. Can't believe how lucky I was there, and very glad I checked when I did.

i spent all day in the loader moving piles at our shop and neighboring driveways. i plow in south kingston and we have no place to put the snow. i need to the a truck and backhoe down there cuz moving it with a 1yd skid steer will take me 3 weeks haha
We have a lot we can dump it in, and hopefully the trucks to do it. I will probably end up taking the 5yd loader down from one lot to the other to push snow tomorrow, at least I can dump the snow over the fence with it. At least I think so. I have no idea what condition the fence is in.
X2 this year was dissapointing. I saw those grabbers, if they were 31's I probably woulda bought them. I loaded up on a butt load of flap wheels and cutoff wheels for dirt cheap. Alos grabbed some $1 grab bag special end mills to abuse on the 14b. I probably shoulda bought a new flexplate for the nova, but I haven't 100% comfirmed that's my problem (im very sure it is though).
I went back to the grabbers a few times, but in the end, I decided to stay with the 35's I have.
Its funny, I always would se good deals on 9" parts, untill I decided to builds one. now everyone wants stupid money for used parts. I had to explain to one guy that his H case detroit locker was not worth more than it cost new, just because it was used in a cup race.

What thoughts? I would have thought after last night you'd be pumped to keep it the way it was with some new rocker mods. It went excellent.

You'd win. Hands down.
Just cutting out the rockers and replacing with box like you, frame stiffeners, and doing a halo cage.

Other than that, ya I want to keep it the same. I was happy with the performance of it. If I keep bashing that rocker, the Jeep will eventually get so tweaked I'll have to build another one.

See... I think Mark was just joking.

I don't think any one person gets more shit than me.
That is probably because I finished mine, and started to wheel. I think that, along with you deciding to cut up yours, was when the torch was passed from me to you.

I try to give Ross, Mark and Anthony equal copious amounts shit, fresh, from my butt.
I appreciate that, from the bottom of my heart.

I guess my uncle is pretty good with restoring cars.

I knew he did body work in his garage, never realized he was doing work on older cars. I plan on spending a week up in NH. Maybe I'll spend some time hanging out with him.

damn my mom's 2001 gmc jimmy has no heat and the temp gauge does not get above 100 degrees, WTF would cause that? a stuck open t stat? i had a 30 min ride in to work and it still didnt get above 100 wtf...

sounds like a t stat to me. or really low coolant

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Mark's jeep lived on the cape and has less rust :dunno: Anthony, where did youre jeep come from? I wanna say Ive heard you say NY maybe?
I got it in Amherst, NH, right near Keith.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I got to work at about 745 (first time before 0800 in weeks). I should have time to stop by the JL dealer either at lunch or after work.

I did some more poking and prodding into the hardware that I have and I'm sorta confused on the electronics side of things. Someone prod me in the correct direction (I'm betting it being Adam, Ken, or Chris).

My sub's amp is rated at 250W RMS and is recommended to drive a 1.5-4 ohm load. I spoke with JL over the phone and they assured me that the volume output of the amp driving a 1.5 ohm load would be the same as a 4 ohm load. Don't most amps increase output when the load is decreased?

And the other electronics question that confuses me. One of my 4 channel amps is rated for 75W rms x 4 @ 4 ohm. If I bridge channels 3 and 4 (and the manual explicitly states only channels 3 and 4) I will get 300W rms @ 4 ohm from the bridged channel and still get my 75W rms x2 from channels 1 &2. How's that possible?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

for the first thing, yes. say an amp is 250w at 4ohm, itll be like more at 2ohms. theres math involved but i'm not remembering it. will it get louder? maybe. watts doesnt always mean volume. it should hit harder so long as your sub can handle it.

the second one, im not sure (again more math) but bridging channels increases output and lowers ohms. so say 2 channels at 4ohms is less total output than them being bridged at 2ohms.

also i'm wearing my big spy sunglasses at work.

I mentioned to the guy on the phone that I was considering getting a 2ohm version of my sub because right now I have the 4ohm and that would ultimately increase the output of that driver and he said no it won't. I'm with you that more power doesn't = more volume, but more power does = higher ouput ceiling. There must be some funky circuitry in there that fixes the power output no matter the load. Most amps give ratings at several loads, so I don't know what's up with these amps inside...

You might have a point about the bridged output a decreasing the load. I think it does and I think I forgot about that.

goddam, I'm hungry.

Hows that workin out for ya?? When you got home did you walk in with them on and your hood like your 14 and trying to hide it from your mom ahahah

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Turner is getting me a price quote back on the DOM. Ross would you want to go pick this up if I order it? I won't have cash until Thursday so I'm going to tell him I won't be able to get it until Friday.

Also, Lance at PSC said I can swap the heims no problem.
