THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'll own up to completing the task, yeah... to be honest, with all the road salt everywhere I'm a bit surprised it stuck at all
yeah, i don't care as long as it didn't end up on paint.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So, should I be worried about the glowing manifold/downpipe, and/or the check gauges while winching (New alternator?)?

its either running lean or you have an exhaust obstruction.

when you were airing up (or at least trying to) i was driving my jeep up the hill for maybe 30 seconds at 3000 rpms or so and mine was glowing.

coolant temp only got up to about 150 degrees.

an exhaust obstruction would lead me to believe i would also have a loss of power. so im kinda ruling that out, but i might replace my downpipe (bent to fawk) anyway and take a peek inside my cat while im doing it.

hopefully after work tomorrow i will try to diagnose the issue I have.

possible causes for a lean condition off the top o ma head:

fuel delivery issue: be it the filter, pump, or regulator
fuel injectors need cleaning or replacing
vacuum leak
first o2 sensor
intake temp sensor
map sensor

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

when this all began on my jeep though, it was after i had an issue with my coolant temp sensor. (read nothing) so it was running rich for a while. after i fixed that it began running lean, so perhaps i fawked up my o2 sensor and its still telling my computer its running rich and trying to lean it out

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ya, I remember hearing you say that it was glowing again after that.

The thing is, the exhaust manifold is about 2 years old, and every single piece of the exhaust after the manifold, including both o2 (Bosch) and cat (Magnaflow) are brand new as of late December.

Thinking about starting an OEM tech thread, have other people diagnose my problems for me.

my header isn't new, but in fine shape and i put it in around late fall.

my cat is maybe 8 months old

muffler about a month old

downpipe is factory and dented up. but not kinked or anything.

upstream o2 is maybe 14 months old and my downstream 02 is broken, but that doesn't effect how it runs, just checks catalytic efficiency.

i have an oem tech thread in there.

i was just told "exhaust obstruction or running too lean"

i searched, theres a few threads on glowing headers and its the same answer in each one , running lean or exhaust obstruction

It feels like beer o'clock

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i have a lot of pbr left. who wants some with me?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

billy does

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I bet a little red wagon with big inflatable wheels and a reinforced structure could do it pretty easily.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Thats what im thinking. roll the pumpkin on there strap it down and haul it up to the desk. Ive pulled axles before just not front 60s that weigh 500 pounds.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

put some roller tires on it and put an electric impact gun on the pinion nut

BAM

it will drive itself out

If it's got an open diff, good luck getting it to go in a straight line.
