Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I put 30+ k on the MJ in 10 months. I haven't checked the odo recently.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Carmelo and I have almost gotten kicked out of restaurants due to this exact topic.
HAHAHAA, while the conversation was horribly funny and horribly wrong until I yelled at you guys to shut up since there were little kids the next table over, you did not almost get kicked out of the restaurant.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

We also discussed this at a Friendlys outside while people were standing around.

I stopped that one since a few little girls walked outside.

We've discussed it more than one time Mr Know-it-all.

DUH

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm gonna put 10" of lift on my next XJ with 3 2" spacers and some 4" coils so that I can run 35s without ripping my flares off or cutting sheetmetal

Now I know how most people feel when being told what is wrong with their car, or how electronics stuff works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbVY5teBzlg
I got bored one day when I was working at the dealership, and put that on the TV in the customer waiting room
Yeah I can't see myself spending $150 on boots. I'll bet they're really comfortable though.

I'm probably just going to get another pair of Timberland pros. They lasted me 4 years and still going.
I can get just over a month out of a pair of timberlands at $75 each, or a year out of a pair of chippewa's at $250. The chippewa's are cheaper for me
The soles probably would last longer, but the soles on my current pair are wearing like iron. I doubt much of anything could stand up to this, picture scrubbing the side of the heel (the leather part right above the sole) against gravel or an abrasive cutting wheel for 4 hours a day with 100lbs on the other side of it. If I wear through these before I finish the roof, I'm getting out my 18ga copper plate stock, ball peen hammer, and copper rivets and solving this problem myself.
Thats why you wear $20 boots from walmart to do roofing

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yep... I think I paid 20 or 30 from building #19 for the current pair.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

~12K / yr. for meeeee!

When I first opened the lots o posty page, this was the first thing I saw...and I was going to say you need to find a new job if that's all you make! You deserve at least 3 times that! :D

Colin, the word 'gotten' always sits funny with me, so I looked it up just for kicks and wiki.answers says- and they've pegged you well:

"Although the British stopped using the past participle gotten about three hundred years ago, the American colonists and their descendants--especially in New England--still tend to use it.

Some English teachers have tried to ban its usage to make American English conform to British English, especially during the nineteenth and early twentieth century when there was a movement to purify English. Others are just not used to its use because it is not used in their region and hear it as an error.

Ultimately, language is convention. If you are writing for a formal audience outside of New England, you might want to use the simple past form got instead. It is like the dictum to never end a sentence with a preposition because that is something some people just will not put--ummm--up with which some people just will not put!"

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

you know what awesome word hasn't been used frequently in decades? beholden.

I can't wait till I am beholden to no one.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Let me know if you guys want any of this...

http://forum.neow.net/index.php?showtopic=100610

I kinda want the lockouts. I have a set from Rob, but hey. why not. I can have 2 sets of spare shafts and 2 sets of spare lockouts, so sure, I'll take em.

and you are the only person i know who plows thier entire yard

my yard is pretty well-plowed also. Mostly because there's like 6 vehicles on a 1/4 acre lot, and also cause we've got 2 giant dogs and a plowed yard makes for easier poo-cleanups :)

dude that's such bullshit. of course gotten is a word!!! there shouldn't be any debate... anyone who's gotten any decent schooling knows that it's totally a valid word.

:)

You're right, it's a totally cromulent word.

Someone needs to embiggen their vocabulary.

Only recently did I discover (or care to investigate) the difference between "farther" and "further".

Farther refers to a physical distance; one place is farther away than another.

Further refers to a metaphorical distance; I need to look further into this, I hope the price of gas drops further, etc.

That's been added to my grammatical OCD. Pretty sure I've used them either interchangeably or completely wrong for most of my life.
