Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

A little bit of math goes a long way towards a good fit.
Barely clears, but barely is better than not.

Don't mind the sawdust on the sub.

I realized that my older head unit won't let me keep my steering wheel controls. I ordered an Alpine CDA 117. This gets me time alignment too :D

How much of a pain is that going to be to lift up when you do actually have to get to the spare?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Man, I am in such a good mood right now. Even though it's 2:56 AM and I *might* have to get up for work in 4 hours...but I'm banking on a telephone call saying that at worst I gotta come in a few hours late, and at best the whole day is cancelled.

I love driving the XJ around with no windshield in snowstorms. I was just haulin medium ass down county roads, but you feel like you're flyin. I came back into the shop with a goatee full of ice, a blown rear brake line (from doing cutting-brake donuts), and permagrin.

Fixed the brakeline, went out for another few laps. Keep in mind, my XJ has been broken since Halloween. Feels good just to drive it again, and after revalving and rebuilding both rear coilovers, and rebuilding both front kingpins, it feels like a totally new truck.

Coming down the last stretch toward the shop the battery ground cable fell off and wreaked havoc on the electrical stuff. Re-attached, thawed out a bit, and went back out for a couple more runs.

Finally parked it for the night, and 4-wheel-drifted the Dodge down to the local bar, showing up in Carhartt coveralls. The snow was falling pretty decent at this point so I had a beer, said hello to some people, and left to go home.

Getting home meant 20 miles of unplowed, untracked roads and was a friggin blast. I dug out a path to my backdoor (I've got 8"+ right now) and since my main heat is a gas cast-iron stove, set my boots/coveralls/gloves/hat/etc to dry overnight.

By tomorrow, we're expecting another 4-6" and I'll probably have to dig my way to my truck just to get in it, and with any luck I might make it out of my driveway if the plow pile at the end isn't too big.

I love this stuff. The XJ was running great, felt great, and seems to be pretty much back together. Now I get to go grab a few hours of sleep and hope for a phone call instead of my alarm.

Life is good. :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Apparently I fell asleep around 11. Just woke up, seriously considering a few runs around worcester then more sleep. Think I'll just pass out, then wake up early and go to the house to check on my weatherprooofing before heading to work.

I have what appears to be about 7" here.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

such a sweet ride into work today :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Still coming down hard, off to check on the roof then storage unit then work

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Getting there, looking good.
Need a bigger spare though, that thing is tiny even for a VW.
Thanks. It's the same diameter as a full size tire, just a little bit narrower but not quite donut width.

It's actually not bad, I tried it. It clears all the plastics and I'm going to build some sort of prop rod, like a hood. Even with all the stuff layed out on the deck it's much less heavy than I expected.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

got about 7-8". right now the work website still says it's opening at 10am, but i'm praying that changes

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

We're getting owned.

Raytheon is still open. I'm working from home though.

hell yeah we're getting owned. it's freakin awesome. I can't wait to get out at 3 and go raise hell :)

Goodrich is still open too, but there's about 12 people here out of 300+

Fact. I think were in the hardest hit area.

 red jeep can still make it thru the snow!!! Just had to go drop my mom off at work, my dad refused to believe that any of our vehicles would make it outta the driveway. He also learned what me rev limiter sounds like.....
