THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

And by better, I mean it was 1.5" 35 spline shafts, huge wheel bearings, and a growing amount of aftermarket support.
and a retardedly huge center chunk, kieth scrap it and get a 60

Doesnt look like it hangs down much lower than my 8.25 and 33s :dunno:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

if I had to choose between a 10.25 and big ass expensive tires and an hp60, or an 8.25 and d30 and 33s for the same ground clearance, I would choose the latter...

Either that, or shave the 10.25, or just drag it over every rock I find till it stops getting in the way.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i just remember it being a big hunk of shit

The tires in that pic look stock. So prob around a 32/33. I'll be running atleast 37s so there will be more clearance, not a huge amount but still some.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Just run whatever axle you find cheap whether its a 60,70,14B, or 10.25.

It's all a compromise between strength, ground clearance, and parts availability.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Rob what size are the spindles on that axle? You can't throw 35 spline stuff in it?
you could it has 23 spline 1.5" shafts, but its a old 70 that you cant get gears or carrier for as they changed things over in 70ish

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yeah it does and i finally think i got the trip planned for the way down
91S
84W
81S
70E to washington then take 95 from there should be 15 hrs hopin to leave 5 ish, gonna be a long ass day

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

seriously debating roadtripping to EJS now. it's during my bday and my buddy's bday whose been to moab but never driven out there. i have 2 weeks paid vacation, i think it's good use of it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

so i think were gonna take 81 then take 64 to richmond va, it will add 2 hours but avoid all the big cities
Hit 95 south of NYC, then in Baltimore, hit RT 301. It brings you back to 95 just south of Fredricsburg VA. 2 lanes each direction and 55 most of the way. The lower speed is more than made up for by bypassing the DC traffic, and the ride is not bad either. Plus you can stop where 301 runs through the middle of Fort AP Hill and steal a "Yield for Tactical Vehicles" Sign
Its a road sign of a tank running over a car. If there wasn't a cop taking radar next to it, I would have one

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

they have a gig the 29th that the guy rich i talked to said "he didnt want to cancel."

Lemme know, maybe I can stand in if you can't. :D

Your shocks are outboarded? I didn't notice that.

A 2.5" coilover will also have a spring wrapped around it (duh) so it will be closer to the ~4" diameter. I really doubt you're going to package that between the rail and tire and still have it flex and not bind up up either of them. You might get away with an airshock if you are getting away with a traditional shock now.

My 2.5" coilovers in the rear do not work without notching the frame.

Chris's old setup seemed to work, maybe he remembers how much clearance there was? Wheel backspacing will play a roll, but I just don't think there is enough for a coilover.

The tire rubbed on the shock with that setup.

Ok, so I'm wrong then.

I still don't think you'll fit a coilover in there and even if you had an airshock when you start getting more flex I think you may have issues. I can't say anything beyond that without really looking at it, I'm just guessing here.

You got me. :)

No, you're right. My tire is firmly into the coilover at this point.

I really need to move the top mounts in a few inches.

4673499957_e21428a7ce_b.jpg

But to do that, I gotta notch the frame, and where I need to notch the frame is where the airbumps currently mount, so that's like a gigantic friggin project.

I think this has to do more with how a linked rear moves laterally compared to a leaf spring rear. Namely, the leaf springs don't let the shock mount move over that much.

east coast blows.

QFT

Both coasts blow.

You've obviously never driven the PCH.

I have plenty of days available. Even with my Tahoe trip I think I've got like 18 days at this point, not including what I accrue by that point.

i'll entertain driving my XJ... just wanna have all the stiffeners welded on and the rockers cut out and replaced with box steel. prob would weld the rear up too. 31s would suck to wheel on any of the harder trails but we'd be able to drive around 95% of moab and the surrounding trails.
