I think they're the OE gears in the axle. The guy returned the replacement Spicer gears because the pinion depth measurement stamp was illegible.

If those gears are OE he's got bigger problems than just a blown gearset. I'll bet something is mondo bent.

I'm guessing it was run low on oil.

Heated up to cause the discoloration, pinion bearings took a dump, started rounding the teeth over from deflection & being soft from heat. Nothing actually looks 'broken' per se.

edit: I almost hit 'edit' instead of 'quote' on your post by mistake. There's a lot more buttons when you have mod-abilities.

I've almost done this twice already. You can also lock threads very easy and not know it in the main forum view with the envelope icons. I did it to the part 2 of this thread and it didn't notice until I wondered why someone locked it.

I've almost done this twice already. You can also lock threads very easy and not know it in the main forum view with the envelope icons. I did it to the part 2 of this thread and it didn't notice until I wondered why someone locked it.

I just looked at what it would take to do that, and I wouldn't say it's 'very easy'. There's like 3 steps you gotta do.

I think you're just trying to cause problems.

Step 2: Find thread, click once on envelope.
Step 3: Click a second time to close thread.
