Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

looks like you may have used some blue wrench.

:firedevil

And a vise. And a ball joint press. And a press.

Did NOT wanna come out. By the time the caps was free, the ear was bent.

did you not use a BFH? i have had better luck with solid hammer hits than presses

I'll bet that one's jaws are 4" wide.

Yo Ross, mine's bigger, and yes, size matters.

Columbians are real good vises though.

BFH was used too. It was used alot. It finally moved after it was chucked up in the press under pressure, heating the ears let them expend out and the cap popped out.

:dunno: Its big enough!!! Me and Adam had a good laugh when we saw it said D44 and thought of you ;)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I just got a call from that woman I met yesterday about the job. Apparently 8-10 hours per week, flexible schedule, etc. Meeting her next Tuesday about it to see if it's something I can/want to do. :thumbup:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The first batch I did *might* have gotten 5 hours on high, probably less. 4 should be OK, the veggies might just be a little crunchy. I literally drove to the party with the cooker on the center console of my truck plugged into an inverter.

And on a side note, I just got home from buying stuff for batch #3. The stuff I brought to work might as well have evaporated before 10:30 AM so I guess I'm doing something right.
This batch has been cooking for about 3.5 hours now on high and not only does is taste really good, but it smells excellent.

You definitely are going something right, I followed your list pretty loosely and it worked out great. I didn't add the cumin as I wasn't sure what it tasted like or what it did to the overall taste.

The bacon was a great addition. It adds a great hint of flavor and without all the fat doesn't grease it all up.

Dude, you gotta add the cumin! That's like the essence of the whole thing!

You can safely use at least a teaspoon if not more. You won't regret it.

Glad it's working out though...funny thing is, this recipe was my first ever attempt at chili. :D I'd love to evolve it further, but honestly I don't know what to change. I'd like to hear your thoughts on it later. The bacon might be the next thing I try.

I've got batch #3 about 45 minutes in on high, I have a feeling this one is gonna be mobile-cooking again. Should be fine by 11 PM though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You guys are ridiculous.

If I want chili, I just pop by Wendys.

5 minutes and I even get free crackers.

You should just buy a lift kit for your MJ, it'll be done quicker.

Anthony should just buy a doubler kit, it'll be done quicker.

Ken should just buy a McMansion, it'll be done quicker.

Meanwhile, I'll enjoy the product of building something on my own terms, having it be exactly what I want, and saving money in the process. :D

Not to brag about my mother's cooking but (but I'm going to anyway) she makes an awesome chocolate-pb fudge.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

ever since I saw chili posted I wanted to make a batch with bacon but haven't got around to it yet; maybe I will do that on xmas. would do it today but I am finishing up some porkchops in red sauce and tomorrow I am traveling.

I still gotta get the ingredients list that my co-worker uses to make his beans and kielbasa. I know it has beans, kielbasa, and bacon but I'm not sure what other spices he uses (or what brand of beans if he even uses a canned baked bean to start)

Fine. I already thought it was pretty good and was hesitant to change anything, but I added 3/4 of a teaspoon. You had better not just screwed it for me. :gag:

I'm pumped for the reactions tonight, my family is begging me not to take it and I've already caught two members stealing bowls. :laugh:
I'll have to make more for Christmas dinner, darn this is fun.

Now after my modifications this is what I've added to exact measurements:

* 1.25 pounds chili ground beef
* 1 pound of bacon with most of the fat trimmed away
* 6 ounces sweet sausage
* 2 ounces hot sausage
* 1 cup chopped onion (1 cup ~= 1/2 onion)
* 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
* 2 cloves garlic, minced
* 1 can (4 ounces) mild green chili peppers
* 1 large diced jalapeño pepper
* 2 cans (14.5 ounces each) diced tomatoes (1 can unsalted, 1 can salted)
* 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
* 1.5 teaspoons grill seasoning blend (smokehouse flavor)
* 2 tablespoons chili powder
* 3/4 teaspoon ground cumin
* 1/3 teaspoon ground black pepper

So you are coping Angel? She just made some. :laugh3:
