Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

would you eat a dead reptar

Hell yeah I'd eat a dinosaur! I've eaten chunks of cartilage before. It was a bowl of yellow squishy bone looking things so I think it was cartilage. Either way I eat whatever. There's just something awesome about digesting a once live creature that just tickles me. I can't think of anything more awesome then absorbing dinosaur meat nutrients into my body.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The tag on my D30 says 3.07. I was pissed. I popped the cover. The ring gear said 41 10 on it. I was relieved. The end.

LET'S GO WHEELIN!!!!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

- What kind of cutlery do you have? A good knife makes a huge difference.

Not anything fancy, but your typical homeware knife-block set. I sharpened the carving knife yesterday and it worked a little better, but that type of sausage in particular really needs to be cooked in the casing to solidify, where the smoked stuff can be chopped cold easier.

- Thickness. My mom starts her slow-cooker spaghetti sauce with paste, not sauce too, FWIW. I've yet to have a single spaghetti sauce I like better.

So far the consistency has been pretty good, even with a 1/3rd can of Yuengling added. It's only an 8 oz can of sauce into 96 ounces of chili so I doubt it'll change much either way, I was just curious.

- I doubt you'll taste a difference, especially with adding that much spices and slow cooking. It will take on a lot of the taste of what is cooked in it. I agree, save $ and buy the non-name brand stuff on things like that.

Yep, definitely saves a few bucks. Which in this case means like 10-15% of the overall cost.

- Chili meat is a little bigger of a grind than regular ground beef and was $0.69/lb less so I cut the corner.

Hmm, interesting. I'll look for it next time. Looks like it cooked up OK.

- I know that isn't smoked sausage, the smoked stuff was $4.99 and that package was $2.99, so I again cut the corner. Kinda a pain to cut up, but it only took a few minutes.

I *thought* it was $2.99, that's why I got it the first time too. But apparently it's not if you don't have a stop n shop card, which is something I've been meaning to get.

- I used the sauce like you recommended, I grabbed the paste 'cause Adam mentioned that it was a good way to thicken it up. At $0.30/can I wasn't going to skip it. I think paste is a little thicker and has less water, I'll let you know if I open one.

Gotcha, see above in response to Anthony's post. And it's definitely a good bargain.

- I've got a Christmas/gag gift party tonight so the cooker is on high right now. Hopefully it'll be done in time.

The first batch I did *might* have gotten 5 hours on high, probably less. 4 should be OK, the veggies might just be a little crunchy. I literally drove to the party with the cooker on the center console of my truck plugged into an inverter.

And on a side note, I just got home from buying stuff for batch #3. The stuff I brought to work might as well have evaporated before 10:30 AM so I guess I'm doing something right.

'Round these parts I hate dealing with and waiting on people, so I scoot myself through the self-checkout lane instead. Hmm. I've lived here for two years and have gone to this grocery store exclusively, you think I woulda done something about it by now...

On a side note. This photo was posted on my FB wall by a friend of mine. There are quite a few jokes that can be made at my expense over this one. :D

At stop and shop if you use self checkout you don't need a card. If you manually search for items (I forget what the menu title is) there is an area for "forgot my card". It gives you the discount w/o needing to scan a discount card. And you don't even need to have a card to use that option, it doesn't ask for any info or anything.

Yo Anthony, your vises suck!! You got some whatever name doo-dad's and junk!! I rock out with a D44 vise .!.:D.!. As soon as I find a D60 or bigger setup, I'll upgrade.

This is a D30. This is a D30 without a TB bracket. Its alot easier to cut the tube off the bracket off the axle. Torches are fun :)
