THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Billy, gonna be around anytime Friday?

I have your contol arms, I want to get that housing out of your way, and I have some random m54 parts I need to pick up, so I'm hoping to kill all of it at once. Figure the least I can do is bring the CAs to you.

i could be, where do you want to meet

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

wherever is convenient for you, I will likely be in western mass for other stuff anyways

gonna finish my D30 swap! WOOOOOOOOOO let's go wheelin!!!

Hell yeah when/where? only thing keeping me from wheeling is... well nothing, all the stupid shit can be ignore, I really should weld the rear so I don't suck in the snow but I will get to doing that one of these years

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

ABS/Brake light came back on in my truck after some rooster tailing last night trying to back up my driveway.

Probably ripped another wire out. When I did the unit bearings, I trashed both dust shields since they were destoryed in the process. Not to mention I hate them. They had a little tab that keeps the wire from contacting the rotor.

I'll just use excessive zip ties.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hey for a FedEx delivery exception, what the hey does this mean? It still says the estimated delivery is for the 22nd before 4:30PM, but I'm curious to know what that means, if anything.
Means you should have expected something like this with a package coming from them. :(
I'll paint them hemi orange
Nice!

Only the best game show on TV.
how were those calendars shipped? i dont know if they ship to my PO box.
I don't think they have shipped yet? Isn't the preorder over the 1st of the year?
So is my new-to-me 79 HP D60 (with dual piston calipers :huh:) and my modified fleabay header that now fits.
What do you mean huh? They are always dual pistons in that year. Read, disassemble, and learn sir. :) Oh ya, post these type of questions in your build thread so you can help others learn as well. :)
The second batch of chili is coming along great. Just sampled some and adjusted the spices a bit...been about ~4 hours on low heat, should be good to go in the morning.
Darn you, I still haven't started on my first batch. I do have your list of stuff to put in it though.
where/when?
X2.

I really like this recipe because it makes a decently small batch out of things in whole numbers. One green pepper. Two jalapenos. Two cans of diced tomatoes, one small can of sauce. One thing of ground beef. One can of chiles. Half an onion...but they're cheap enough anyway, and I saved the leftover half from the first batch.

Sucks because I wanna go eat more now, but I'll save it for lunch @ the office tomorrow.
I was creepin on yo facebook last night. I saw this picture then. Looks nummy nummy.

I read the Dodge line when I looked at it earlier. :doh:
'It' being the PBB D60 Bible. Good point about questions like this going in the build thread. I'm sure when it comes time to reassemble I'll have all sorts of good questions. I'm expecting to have a big update Ross-style at the end of the weekend. It will be all parts and no progress.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

me too ill be down? Any one have a D30 unit bearing? i also need to replace my d/s ujoint.

Ken you meeting billy later? If you are can you grab a unit bearing off him?

Sure but not sure if we are meeting today or tomorrow. I also have a million unit bearings coming out my ass, do you need the later style or earlier style? I have like a billion early style ones.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

It feels like I rebroke my nose a little bit. I have no idea how, and there's no blood. But I can make it click a little bit. It feels like it's a little broken when I push on it too...

Haha. Just finished eating a small bowl a few minutes ago. :D

I made this one a little more mild so it's more "office friendly". My boss just had some and said it was great, but "this is the mild version??" Oops...

Bill, now that I have a set of measuring spoons, apparently I end up using way more spices than listed in the initial recipe. The way it's listed there is very 'safe', as in you can use those amounts and not have to worry about anything being overpowering. I'd let it simmer for a few hours like that, then sample it and adjust to your liking. A few more notes:

I cook the ground beef with Montreal Steak seasoning and add a bit more once everything's in the pot.

If you can find it, McCormick (the usual spice company) has a regular chili powder as well as a 'hot mexican-style' chili powder. I've been using the hot stuff and I like it a lot, definitely works well in this case.

Good to know, I'll need to pick up some more chili powder anyway then as I only have about 2 tablespoons. Is it safe to say you doubled the spices? I guess I'll start with the minimum and add as I go. I'm going to try Andy's advice and add a bar of dark chocolate too. How long are you slow cooking it for?

Here's what I'm looking solely at based on the posts here (portions modified from what you originally posted):
* 1 1/2 to 2 pounds lean ground beef
* 8 ounces smoked sausage
* 1 cup chopped onion
* 1 red or green bell pepper, chopped
* 2 cloves garlic, minced
* 1 can (4 ounces) mild green chili peppers
* 3 to 4 tablespoons diced jalapeño peppers, or to taste
* 2 cans (14.5 ounces each) diced tomatoes or fire-roasted tomatoes, undrained
* 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
* 1 or 2 teaspoon grill seasoning blend
* 2 to 3 tablespoons chili powder
* 2/3 teaspoon ground cumin
* 1/3 teaspoon ground black pepper
* 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
* 1 dark chocolate bar
* Tomato paste to thicken if needed

Doubling the spice amount isn't out of the question. The given amounts of cumin and ground pepper barely make a dent in my 3-quart cooker. Real easy to overdo the cumin though.

With the quantity I listed it fills my 3-quart cooker about 75%, maybe a little more. I've just used two whole chopped jalapenos, I dunno what the measurement of that works out to be.

This batch was on low from about 9 PM to 7 AM, so 10 hours. The first one was on high for about half that. I'd figure around 6 hours on low or 4 hours on high at least. Really it's just to make sure the vegetables soften up...the ground beef is already cooked by the time you add it. I don't think it's possible to 'overcook' on low.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My mom can make a damn good chili, hopefully she'll make it this weekend for the festivities.
