You still have 1310 joints right? Greatlakes offroad has custom cap retainers for bigger size joints, but they could probably make some smaller ones.




I had tossed a joint on my old 30 yoke and busted off a tab. I ran for years afterwards with simply a stock strap with a quarter sized piece of 1/8" welded to it, never thru a cap or had a problem until I finally swapped the yoke.

2: yes i do. im content with my 1310's. and if i go bigger i cant go to the junkayrd and get $20 front shafts when i eff one up.

3: i think im just gonna put a junk u joint in there, and weld half a washer to each ear. i have 3 busted 44 yokes and a couple busted 60 yokes i could do this to

And I only have one ladder till after christmas, so getting two people up there is impossible.

Well, it looks like chili, smells like chili, and after a bunch of hours in the slow cooker, we'll see how it turned out. :D

Unfortunately the sausage I got didn't chop up too well so I only put one or two links in. I'll save the rest for the grill.

Also added about 1/3 can of Yuengling to thin it out just a little bit.

I think the canned chile peppers will be a nice addition.

I just went and got the '99 fired up for the first time since I brought it home. Had to ghetto rig some heater hoses so it wouldnt puke coolant everywhere, and ran it off the '96 jumped since the alternator does not work and isnt even hooked up right now.

It sure does make a racket, from inside the engine. Either some sort of knocking or like the previous owner said, something wrong with the cam. The throttle cable sticks, it has a high idle (around 1400rpm, probably due to the cable), and the transmission leaks pretty bad, somewhere around the torque converter area and was leaking onto the exhaust, making a nice smoke show.

It'll be a project, for sure!

Kyle, sounds like a weekend "pull drivetrain, put other drivetrain in" project to me... if I happen to have a day or two free between christmas and new years and you have time off, I bet we could get it done quick. Its not even bad working alone just a bit more frustrating.

Only complication I can think of is that you will need a 99 manual ecu, or a 99 auto ecu and a 97 tcu and some electronic tricks perhaps.

This batch of chili was my first big kitchen project. Besides that, it's mostly just mac & cheese or frozen stuff.

Made a pretty good mess and my carving knife isn't sharp enough, but it was a nice experience. Hopefully it turns out good.

The disappointing part is I won't even be able to enjoy most of it. 3 quarts of chili at a holiday party ain't gonna last long.

:dunno: Im gunna be a cheapass and run stocker front shafts with bigger yokes. Conversion joints FTW. And dont give me any of that BS about having to buy it, if youre swapping a d-shaft in, youre gunna put new joints in it anyways (at least I do) and its only a couple of bucks more anyways.

yeah, that's the ultimate plan. supposedly i'd need to dick around with the pedal assembly too, or find 5 speed pedals from a '99 as well. I'm in no huge hurry, since I dooo still kinda want to wheel the 96 at least one more time, now that I slapped in that "floor". I'm not going to have a lot of time off... ever but now that I"ve got that barn / garage I've got space to work when I do.

Time to start hunting for junkyards for 97-2001 5-speeds in junkyards for an ECU and pedals
