i get that a lot. and backaches.

last night i thought it was a good idea to "race" some car from red light to redlight. it was only a couple hundred feet or so, so i put it in 2low

and as soon as i hit second gear my rear u joint and yoke blew apart. i still coasted into a win

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

if i break anything in that dana60 on 35's (yokes not included) i will glady give it to you

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

pretty sure my supple leaf springs bend too much before anything in that 60 gets close to the breaking point. and when my crap springs wrap enough, the u joint binds up and leaves the vehicle.

Anyone from Boston's Back Bay, Northeastern University area in here? I walk downtown sometimes and always see a lifted green Cherokee on Columbus.

Yes, that would be me. I had it up here all over the summer, and up until mid October, it was parked over there.

Sam, go over there and post this pic, I want to see if its me.

Just put my snow tires on the VW. Looks neat with benz rims.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i just put the shaft and yoke on my jeep.

and my floor got XXXXED UPPPPPP

there is now several dents and a crack.

does anyone know of a pinion yoke that has more than 2 little "keepers" for the u joint caps? someone should invent that

thats what always fails first back there. this time it wasnt even chipped off by a rock

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Some guy was making machined titanium yoke straps that avoided that breaking off.

Got all the stuff for zj discs on the mj... damn does a hilift ever come in handy at the jy. Some retard at chrysler decided d44as should get external torx cross shaft retainer bolts though, was nearly screwed by that. That axle is made of fail.

A friend of mine welded all kinds of stuff on his rear D44 yoke to prevent that from happening. Same thing, it'd wrap and break the little tits off.

Snapped the pinion on his first trip out with it instead.

D60 is probably better, but I wonder what the next thing to give would be...

i remember reading somewhere that flanged setups don't have as intense of an operating angle as a yoke with 1310's. but that would fix the issue i have hm.....

i have thought of this

i would hate to be breaking more expensive parts

i would hope my driveshaft or u joint would go before anything in my 231 goes. and im pretty confident a 1310 would explode before anything in my 60.

maybe ill just do the ross fuse and run brute force u joints

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My dad and I are planning on putting some form of propane heater hangin from the ceiling at the oposing end of the pellet stove in out garage. The stove seems to attract people and block off all the heat flow making it real cold at the rear of the vehicle. The fact that we have tall ceilings and no insulating doesn't help either though.

Youre doing it wrong, our pellet stoves put out too much heat. Use fans to direct the heat to the other end.

You always bitch about wrap, why dont you build a traction bar?

Black jeep and red jeep have dents from tossed driveshafts.

You still have 1310 joints right? Greatlakes offroad has custom cap retainers for bigger size joints, but they could probably make some smaller ones.

I had tossed a joint on my old 30 yoke and busted off a tab. I ran for years afterwards with simply a stock strap with a quarter sized piece of 1/8" welded to it, never thru a cap or had a problem until I finally swapped the yoke.
