THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

the more dana 44 shit i read, the more i get confused about what to do for knuckles/outers/brakes/spindles etc. everything else seems fine, just from the knuckles out im confused as tits.
what you all confused about there a bit complicated at first but get extremely easy quick

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

what troubles you?!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

well i want OTK steering, dont necessarily need high steer. So will the chevy flat tops work for this, and chevy small spindles, matched with ford hubs and rotors. plus i wanna ditch the 19 spline stock outers but not sure what to run instead, theres just so much information out there its hard to get a straight up answer na'meen.

and i dont even wanna get started on how to set my steering up

If you're doing 1-ton TREs or heims, sure the chevy knuckles will work fine for OTK, just drill/ream them out(i would think :dunno:). you can use the chevy small spindles on the chevy knuckles of course, and yes you're correct on the ford hubs. Why do you want to ditch the 19 spline outers? just because of the fact that they're the weak link? I never really looked into that too much; I just ordered superiors and bought a pair of CTMs for my 44. hope some of that helps a bit.

What're you confused on with the steering setup?

I will be doing TRE's on this 44, no more heims for me. And your correct about the outers being the weak link, were your superiors 19 spline?

CTMs and alloys are almost definately in the future.

And for the steering, I've never had to set it up before, so just not really sure where to start. I'm trying to look for a bolt on OTK kit for ease of installation

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yeah, my superiors were the 19 spliners, and i had warn premiums. held up fine. for steering, if you want a bolt on setup for a waggy OTK under an XJ, bug carmelo and see if you can get colin's old steering off of him :) otherwise, get some DOM and tube inserts or taps plus the TREs listed in Ballistic Fab's steering kit for inverted-T steering. Once you've got the axle in position under the Jeep, just measure stuff and whip it up. if you use inserts and need them welded in, you can get everything all cut and ready to go, and just bring it to someone with a welder, they can burn em in in no time

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Awesome, thanks for the advice

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

sure. just don't hold me to its accuracy, i've been known to give well-intentioned yet still misleading advice/information :laugh3:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Nothing wrong with the 19 spline outers. I have 19 spline alloy outers.

I just saw Tron: Legacy. That movie was amazing, visual effects were awesome, and the sound track was amazing too.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I'm going to a holiday party around 7 PM...as I mentioned, I just obtained a slow-cooker, so I think I'll make a pot of chili to bring along. I've never made chili before but I like it spicy, with no beans. I've compiled a few different recipes and added my own preferences, anyone see anything to add/delete?

Again, beans are not an option.

* 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
* 8 ounces smoked sausage
* 1 cup chopped onion
* 1 red or green bell pepper, chopped
* 2 cloves garlic, minced
* 1 can (4 ounces) mild green chili peppers
* 2 to 3 tablespoons diced jalapeno peppers, or to taste
* 2 cans (14.5 ounces each) diced tomatoes or fire-roasted tomatoes, undrained
* 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
* 1 teaspoon grill seasoning blend
* 2 to 3 tablespoons chili powder
* 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
* 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
* 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste

Looking forward to an ongoing experiment, but I think that'll be my starting point.

Colin the RCV salesman :roflmao:

Man I wish I had the cash for axleshafts that good

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

What's he running for ball joints?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

RCVs for rockwells.....yes please

im really liking this fireplace i have in my shop. plenty of room for people to stand around and drink, while still doing semi productive jeep related work.

on another note i think i have forced myself to bore over the LS1. there is a good bit of surface rust on the cylinder liners which i think will require more than honing...oh darn haha

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I do my best to coerce everyone into buying them.

if my 44 was perfect in every other aspect, id rock those. lotta money, but i suppose once you add up the cost of alloys all around it aint so bad.

What's he running for ball joints?

titanium

yeah, my superiors were the 19 spliners, and i had warn premiums. held up fine.

didn't you wheel it like once?

i have looked into upgrading the outers. people have bored out the spindles and run 30 spline outers with custom drive flanges. warn might have made a 30 spline 44 hub at one point as well iirc. but the spindles are already too thin. ( i blew an outer in the spindle and it actually bowed out the spindle to the point i couldnt get the hub nut off)

if i were to get alloy shafts, they would be nitro. i got my outers for $210 shipped with a lifetime warranty. and ever since i swapped them i havent had any issues on 36's and 35's, and i have only gotten stupider when i wheel, i used to "think" before i tried dumb things.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My dad and I are planning on putting some form of propane heater hangin from the ceiling at the oposing end of the pellet stove in out garage. The stove seems to attract people and block off all the heat flow making it real cold at the rear of the vehicle. The fact that we have tall ceilings and no insulating doesn't help either though.
