Instead i'm gonna slap an Edge juice w/ attitude or something on my completely stock 24V. Then i'll be asking for trouble.

I don't know that you can do it with a standard OBD2 reader?

I think you can do it with a Smarty. Maybe it's time to give my CTD a tuner :firedevil:

there are 5 cummins trucks in my group of friends. the one that isnt breaking every 3 or 4 weeks is the stock 3rd gen lol

WTF are they doing?

My 24V has been pretty damn reliable. Granted, I haven't thrown a tuner/injectors/turbo or anything at it.

Wouldn't be a problem on mine since I have the fuel system to cover it, the only thing I could see failing would be the clutch hating life.

But anything could happen, and it's only a downward spiral from there.

WTF are they doing?

My 24V has been pretty damn reliable. Granted, I haven't thrown a tuner/injectors/turbo or anything at it.

two of them are insane 11 second runners with suncoasts, bigger turbos, everything... one of them put his as much to stock as possible so it would stop being a driveway ornament. another one is down for a lift pump and injection pump and all that at the moment.... all of them are chipped cept the 3rd gen. otherwise i have no idea haha. i love my buddy's dirtymax quad cab though....

once you start modding the cummins the reliability seems to go to shit.

It's a constant battle for me to not turn my DD into another project. DD's can be enjoyed daily but no matter how awesome any part I buy for my XJ is I know I'm not going to get to drive it for a while. :( I've behaved myself for the most part but I may have just made a few non-jeep parts purchases :shhh:

me making a 310whp DD was a bad idea for my life and sustainability of my driver's license... so i got rid of that project land got another XJ lol

this is why I own 4 jeeps, jeeps are expected to be projects.

Just need a radiator, AX15, and decent tires before I take the MJ down for a rebuild...

I'd say if you don't know what you're doing the reliability can go to shit. I'm not saying you're friends don't know what they're doing, but there are plenty of people out there making power and driving them everyday. Hell, I haven't done anything because I wouldn't know what the hell I was doing. I just upgrade the parts that are rumored to commonly fail (lift pump, track bar, sway bar links).

My buddy has an Edge on his with an AirDog 150 and has been on level 5 for the past 15k miles with just a $80 shift kit in the trans and a $300 4" summit-special exhaust. Hasn't had a hiccup yet, though I'd bet the trans is a ticking time bomb.

Thankfully it's not go-fast items. Those will get me in trouble. I'm happy with how fast the car is right now, especially for a DD. The next exterior thing I get would be sticky tires for next summer.

I only want enough power to tow my MJ on my father's trailer down to PA and not have to let off 5th gear with the cruise on at 70 mph.

I think just getting a Smarty and some 50hp injectors would be perfect. I'd probably do a whole 4" exhaust at that point though to keep the EGTs down.

the trans is knocking on death's door. and yea, idk what it is but they just get unreliable.. maybe they all got shitty ones haha. but lemme tell you.. hot DAMN is it a rush to feel a 3+ ton truck do a 40-100 run faster than a corvette.

I finally got new mirror glass for mine. :D

what about steprails? lolol

I need 2 more relatively short RCA cables, a 150A fuse, a 1/0 terminal, and some MDF.

It's going to sound like a concert hall in mah car (9 channels, 11 speakers). I know Bill is going to make fun of me and probably call me all sorts of names, including something referencing Hispanics and their slammed S10s. They run systems designed for max SPL. This system is designed with sound quality in mind, though it won't be all that quiet either. I'll be pushing 750W RMS total.
