THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I wonder how cold it can get before I'll feel uncomfortable about not plugging my CTD in.

So far it's started everyday without a hiccup, granted the grid heater stays on for about a solid 20-30 seconds.
What can go wrong if you don't heat it when it's too cold? I know the fuel can gel, but what else?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I only ever drink coffee black.

I tried an experiment and made some hot chamomile herb tea last night before going to bed. Supposedly it helps to 'reduce stress, promote relaxation and restful sleep.'

Well, it was pretty tasty, but it didn't help me sleep any better. And I had a nasty aftertaste from it this morning. Oh well.
I never drink coffee. Occasionally I'll have a tea, but most of the time I stick to hot coca.

I have yet to plug mine in, it was 4° this morning and the glow plug light was on for about 6 seconds tops. Started right up like it was 20°. If it gets much below zero I'll probably plug mine in.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The amount of dust I've consumed in the last 2.5 hours probably rivals the entire amount I did while building the Jeep. Yuck.

I eat pounds of sawdust everyday. I shit wood boards.

Two sausage burritos + a hash brown + a large coffee from McDonalds = a great start to my morning.

I just got a chocolate chip muffin from DD with a hot chocolate.

I'm not a coffee drinker either. I did it for a few weeks a couple months ago, but I would just end up wicked hyper in the morning.

Badass. My father's CTD is the same way with the grid heater. They're so much more efficient nowadays. I don't mind waiting for mine though. I just get the radio going, put on my seatbelt, check mirrors, etc. and by the time I'm ready it's usually ready to fire.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I go for months of coffee drinking then denounce it for a few months then I ease back into it... It's a vicious cycle.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I plug mine in so I have heat faster.

The 5.9 ZJ is great for that. It only has an electric fan so it gets up to temperature real fast. I let it run for about 7 minutes this morning in 14* temps and the interior was already warm with the engine at 180*.

I usually let me truck warm up at least 5 min before I take off when it is cold. I've always got heat when I jump in, high idle works wonders, makes pretty clouds for the first minute too.

Poor truck is covered in salt. :tear: I think I'll wash it today.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Bill, what's your high idle rev up to?

On my CTD it only goes up to 1k on the button, and hitting the brake knocks it back down again.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I stood over the guy at Hassan when I had Joey's WK flashed for the fog lights. All they did to his is access the ECU via their computer and go to the fog lamp option and select enable. Only $45. DONE! Colin, yours could be the same.

And didnt his ECU shit the bed later? :dunno: Couldnt really blame them for that though.

~1100rpm. Touching the brake or accelerator knocks it back down. Leave it alone for a few seconds and it'll come right back until the intake air temp is 32° or the coolant temp reaches ~160° I think.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i have high idle too....I just use my trusty bicycle lever shifter hand throttle gizmo

Can you use it as a poor mans cruise control while driving? My red jeep sucks balls on the long drives without cruise.

Yeah I have, I find it better to use as a cruise control while wheeling, because going over rocks and such my feet & ass bounce around so much it mashes on and off the pedal which can be neck snapping in the 5sp, so just use the hand throttle and its smooth sailing.

Add cruise. I don't know how easy it is in the 96-, but I added to my '99 in about 20min for under $40.
Bill, found a thread that confirms your part numbers. Dunno what I was looking at for the 1/2" studs.

I'm going to order up the 610-278s. Sounds like 39/64" is the bit to use, but I'll probably start with 19/32" and see how that fits.

I'd hoped they'd be confirmed... I did look right at the package I took them out of to get them. :) You'll need the 19/32". That 1/64" will make a difference in the knurl seating.
