THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I ended up seeing The Town last night, the one with Ben Affleck. It was a pretty good movie, there were a bunch of funny parts too, which I wasn't expecting.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Cool. I worked on mah jeep!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I don't care about the $ vs time argument. This is what gets me.
I care about both - funny thing is, I can often make a bracket faster than going through the order process on a website, and certainly before it gets shipped to me. For instance I fully boxed my UCA bracket in about 20 minutes with $5 of 3/16 plate, it would have cost 20+shipping from these guys and my plate goes further up than theirs.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

accomplished with an angle grinder and standard drill press.

i agree with both, im very happy with the way my 60 mounts have come out, i did buy the ss kit for the rear just because im lazy sometimes and its stupid simple to toss on

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

As much as I don't like that guy's Anti-American views, sometimes it is a good show.
This is why I don't like that show that much. A bunch of my friends are like shocked when they find out I don't like that show, but that guy just gets on my nerves, and sometimes the cockiness they exhibit just makes me mad. That, and their Landrover LR3 episode showed me how they are a bunch of idiots.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I don't see how people pay $5+ so a simple bracket from some of these vendors when it takes 5 minutes to cut it out yourself. You also get the exact fit you are looking for and are not forced to put something somewhere else because the bracket couldn't be modified enough and dictated it.

Depends for me.

If I could buy a truss for my front axle that fit reasonably well and wasn't a fortune, I'd buy it in a heartbeat considering it would probably take me like a weeks worth of 3 hour nights to make one.

I like building stuff, but when I can buy something that saves me a bunch of time I usually do. The main reason I didn't for the motor mount brackets was because they're like $180 before shipping.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm really glad I use Heleta cutting discs now though, they don't have that wonderful "made in Russia / warning this product is known to the state of california to cause cancer" warning on them that Horrible Freight ones do, and last at least twice as long.

You've been having good luck with those?

Last batch I bought a few months ago, they seemed to evaporate pretty quickly. The flap discs are OK but the cost/benefit of the cutoff wheels drove me back to the Dewalt XP high-performance ones from Lowes.

I might be a 'super-user' for cutoff wheels though...every bracket/tab/fabbed piece on my engine mounts, both axles, coilover towers, etc. was chopped out of a 4x4 piece of 3/16" plate using my Milwaukee 4.5" angle grinder and cutoff wheels.

Here's what's left. I pretty much retired this piece. :D

I think they could be super fun. But at $35K+, I'd rather own something that didn't contain a ricer engine.

For $35k you can do a Cobra kit car. $20.7k for the kit, plus motor, rear end, tires/wheels, paint, and battery. I want to do this in the not-to-distant future. And I'll be the asshole who puts a Corvette motor in it, and drives it as much as friggin possible. 11-second 1/4's and 25+ MPG's? Yes please. :D

do want.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm just gonna go spend money on the '70 Duster 340 4-spd in the yard next summer.

Prob mid 13 sec quarters. Factory they were somewhere in the low 14s, but that 340 is definitely not factory. It can barely keep itself idling the cam is so radical.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Why am I looking at big pieces of glass instead of big pieces of metal? I shouldn't be buying anything....

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Scott, Colin isn't talking about his regular oxy/ace setup. He's talking about the torch that he got at Carlisle.
Ohhhhh, I thought it looked super clean for a torch but figured I just sucked with mine (which is still true) :laugh3:

Yeah its a DHC 2000. I put a link to it in my build thread
nice, will have to look into it, havent kept up on the build threads in a while

I also like the Tyson chicken cutlets for making sandwiches.
Agreed. Was my quick/easy lunch of choice during college. Chicken cutlet with a slice of yellow American cheese on a plain bagel with a mix of blue cheese dressing and franks as a sauce/topping/condiment/whatever, then all tossed in the toaster for a few min to get it warm/melty

^^^This. I was going to post the exact same thing  except I would probably run a lightly modified 5.0 so I could pick up a cheap old rusted (but running well) fox body and just swap the motor, rear end, etc over.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My buddy has a miata, I have been trying to convince him to swap an LS in. He isn't on board with that swap... yet. :D (Note: I'm sure he wants to do said swap but his current income and the fact the miata is a DD doesn't allow him to do so)

And I passed a Mini on the highway today with a small "Actual Size" sicker on the lower right portion of the window (on that black border they have). I was amused.

looks like you could paint an anime character on it and sell it on ebay for 400 dollars. And yeah, I have pretty good luck with them, at least compared to HF discs. They cost about the same as HF discs and last a good deal longer, so it works out well.

BUY METAL!

looks like my 96 shitbox except better simply because it's a 95 instead of a 96.

That DHC2000 looks pretty awesome, but way out of my budget atm.

Compare it to the cost of a plasma and it seems a lot more reasonable.

The guy who was demoing it was an old timer, and he could weld and everything with the thing it was sweet.

I mainly bought it for the cutting capabilities. Can go through up to 1" plate like butter.

Oh definitely. Just means it's slightly out of my budget instead of WAY out of my budget :roflmao:

I'd also like its ability to weld and braze and all that good stuff, looks very useful.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

my rebel xt is beyond shot, and i need a 7D more than anything right now. but i keep saving for jeep stuff. ughhh.
Yeah a new body would be killer. Right now I'm pondering these two:

http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-80-400mm-4-5-5-6D-Autofocus-Nikkor/dp/B00005LEOO

http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Nikon/Product/Digital-SLR/25468/D7000.html

I find myself wanting to do really long telephoto work quite often and I just don't have the gear for it right now. I also don't have $2500 to drop on this.
