i am soo ready to have fulltime 4WD and way better suspension in red jeep. the deeper gears and hard launchs will be fun :firedevil:

my last post was directed towards john, for a street hot rod i would so do a Mopar 340

I figured the post wasn't directed at me but figured I would throw that out there.

And the 340 is also an option.... a very good one :) I have also looked into swapping in an LQ9 (or something from the LQ series) like this one; The truck version of the LS engines. I did the research a while back and IIRC it weighs pretty damn close to the same as a 4.0 and they are regularly cheaper than their LS counterparts.

any emitions controlled vechicle you prob wont get away with a 340 swap

you need to have all emitions equpment still on, and puttin a carbed engine in a obd-1 rig is frowned upon

x2 Is NH the same as MA that OBD1 vehicles (or vehicles pre-96) no longer need to pass emissions?
Pretty sure. Or it's 15 years. But if it came with a cat from the factory there needs to be one in place. Although there is no way of detecting if there is anything present in there.:spin1:

cat and ccv has to be there but doesnt have to work

I don't know why we don't see more amc v8s in cherokees/comanches. Alot of people upgrade trannies behind the 4.0 the natural progression to me would be go to an amc v8 and be able to keep your drivetrain setup. Still cheap, fuel injection is easy and it just makes sense.
