THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I've been running the pumps at work the past few days, and we peg those suckers right on their rev limited of 1950rpm. A little warnig light goes on for" too much rpms" , the t backs off a bit, the goes back up. When I first saw that I immediately thought of wheeling!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You only have to worry about that if you (a) do not fully dry the parts (i.e. fully disassemble them and let them dry) and (b) use chlorinated brake cleaner.

The brake cleaner I use is acetone and heptane, neither contain chlorine so phosgene generation is impossible

Thanks for trying to keep me from accidentally killing myself however!

EDIT: Kyle - wow, most diesels really hate life if you over rev them (or lug them), stretches the connecting rod ends which wrecks oil pressure, the bearings or wrist pin seizes and it tosses a rod through the block. At least that's what will happen if I over-rev mine too much :scared:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

ahh, I figured a stick welder or special wire was required or something, guess I'll do that tonight or tomorrow night while I've got the welder out :D

yea i used a shit ton of no chlorinated brakleen, let it dry for a few hours in the sun just because death sucks and didnt wanna chance it anyway.

and i migged the shit out of it with my 140 amp leaving just enough room to remove the c-clips

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

that's my plan, want to still be able to replace the axle shafts if needed... which reminds me, I need to pick up some spares as soon as I find out whether it's 27 or 29 spline (damn 96 split year changes!)

aaaaand I'm outta here, time to hit storage and then head for NH

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

cant wait fo fri, uj and dwe are gonna be the partay

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

DON'T USE BRAKE CLEANER BEFORE WELDING!

^^this is what I did also. Should have clarified, sorry :embarassed:

 I can't wait either. I got a few small things left to do with the Jeep and then gotta go foodshopping and gotta pack some junk in the jeep. Also I need to find where that spare lockout is that you gave me

Yeah we are NOT nice to our equipment, even though an entire pump is somewhere around a million bucks a pop. Im assuming that the 1950rpm we run them is the max power range, and we just set a limited so operating the pump at its peak power band is easier for the operator. I still think it is neat though, with ike 20,000 horsepower in the" rev limited":link1:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

FAWK NAPA. First they close early. So I get out of work and haul ass to get there before closing at 5:30 (internet said store hours went to 5:30). Get there and the door sign shows they close at 5. Ass hats. Now with my schedule I can't get the water pump until Friday.

Maybe I will skip cornhole on thurs and get parts and start fixing. Going to try and swap fuel tank tomorrow I think, need to bring a fuel tank strap with me so I can figure out what size nut I need then will have at it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

so i've managed to start to convince myself to pick up a 4x4 pickup truck soon (maybe next paycheck?). i'm thinking of either an older F250 / F350 or an older 2500 or 3500, depending on what I find / condition / etc.

What say ye, pickup truck snobs i mean experts? I'll probably use it for some DD duties, lugging shit around, Jeep parts, and maybe towing the Jeep here and there if / when it gets to the point where it needs it and I get a trailer.

Only problem is, 4x4 pickups around here are NOT cheap. I've found a few interesting ones, what do you guys think?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

 got the middle stiffeners FINISHED. welded a little bit, then flap wheeled the crap outta everything, followed by the wire wheel on the drill. tomorrow morning ill give it a quick wipe down and shoot a bunch of primer at it all.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

if anyone has a set of stock shackles pm me I need to swap my rear leafs so fall crawl is a possiblity

They are like $20-30 new from crown.

Honcho runs perfect for anyone not in the know. Rob how's yours doing? I shit my pants three times at once every second just thinking about wheeling with your shitbox.:scottm:

hmmmmmm. Maybe I tossed em in the pickle if we were just going to Pano's, I'll check the piles of crap I took outta that thing before it got sold. I know the car was emptied out before it left so no worries there. I know I've got that box somewhere, I just can't think of where exactly.
