Front axle is in, ca's in, coils in, shafts in, hubs on, and steering hooked up(minus stabil). Tomorrow is new front soft lines, put calipers on, track bar, stabil, wheels/tires, and test drive. T-Pain I'm calling on you. I'll be in the garage at noon after classes.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

holy shit how did I not realize I have monday off

:party::party::party::party::party:

EDIT: what's this I hear about the governor passing some kind of a law concerning titling custom vehicles? Anyone know more / know whether it would be possible to title a completely scratch built vehicle with no VIN, not built to look like any particular vehicle ever?
I made the same realization earlier today.

and regarding the other stuff, this was all posted by Billy on UJ:
Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick has until Thursday (Aug. 19, 2010) to sign into law a version of SEMA model legislation (H.B. 4871) to create a vehicle registration classification for street rods, custom vehicles, replicas and specially constructed vehicles. H.B. 4871 defines a street rod as an altered vehicle manufactured before 1949 and a custom as an altered vehicle at least 25 years old and manufactured after 1948. Replica vehicles are defined as being assembled by a non-manufacturer from new or used parts that replicate an earlier year, make and model vehicle. Specially constructed vehicles are those reconstructed or assembled by a non-manufacturer from new or used parts that have an exterior that does not replicate or resemble any other manufactured vehicle. The bill allows replica vehicles to be assigned a certificate of title bearing both the year in which the vehicle was built and the make, model and year of the vehicle intended to be replicated.

If You Haven?t Done So Already, We Urge You to Contact Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick (Contact Information Below) Immediately to Request His Support for H.B. 4871

H.B. 4871 provides specific registration classes and license plates for street rods, customs, replicas and specially constructed vehicles.
H.B. 4871 provides that street rods and custom vehicles would be exempt from emissions requirements.
H.B. 4871 provides that specially constructed and replica vehicles which are registered on or before April 30, 2012 would be exempt from emissions inspection requirements. Specially constructed and replica vehicles registered after April 30, 2012 would be subject to emission control requirements based on the model year and configuration of the engine installed, whether the engine is an original equipment manufacturer?s production engine, rebuilt engine or crate engine. Under the bill, if the model year of the engine installed in the specially constructed or replica vehicle requires an onboard diagnostic (OBD) system, the vehicle would be subject to an OBD system emissions test applicable to the certified configuration, including any exclusions or exemptions otherwise granted to that certified configuration.
H.B. 4871 provides that a replica vehicle will be assigned the same model year designation as the production vehicle it is intended to replicate, in addition to the actual year it was built.
idk how much of that actually passed but custom vehicles may be on the list...

I'm totally sitting in my Fundementals of heating right now with NAXJA docked to one side of the screen and youtube on the other. Laptops and Windows 7 FTW.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My kid siblings have the day off today because of the storm. wtf, really?

I wish work was canceled... Really don't want to be here.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I really wanna work on my pile o junk.

x2 between the heat, the rain, and other paying projects lately, ive gotten nothing done on black jeep. it looks sad :( im gunna pull the drill press out and set it up so i can drill a million holes in my middle stiffener, that should make it feel better.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm bailing out of work at ~3 to "prepare for the storm" i.e. work on my jeep before it starts raining

 my buddy is picking up a drill press that used to belong to his grandfather (since he passed away years ago). His grandfather used to be a welder so hopefully its a nice one. I plan on hijacking it within a few weeks after he gets it to make swiss cheese out of some stiffener steel unless I find a deal on one myself before he gets his (and that's dependent on his being adjustable speed and slow enough for the bits I am going to be using).

I heard that the guys in the group I support were given a half day today... which in turn means that I have a half day today as long as I watch my email through the afternoon. :D I got my doors on last night so if the weather is reasonable when I get home I think I will be bolting up the t-case skid

Speaking of which, does anyone know off the top of their head what hardware is required to install a stock XJ t-case skid?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

3 bolts at the passenger side, one bolt at the driver side, and 2-3 self tappers along the front edge.

Chase the threads in the weldnuts on the frame with a tap first and use antiseize or you will be breaking at least one. I think they are metric hardware but I'm honestly not sure.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

cool beans. I just need 2 1310-1330s. Will you be around on Monday afternoon? I get out of work at 3 and then I'll be heading to Colin's from there...

I think I'm going to be closed for the holiday, but I only live 15 minutes from the store now so I could pop by or just make arrangements with Colin/Adam/whoever could grab them for you ahead of time.

Rossy Ross & anyone else interested, got in the 5-460x this morning. :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

crap I completely forgot to call :dunce:

Not sure you saw this before - do you carry spicer 5-7000X joints?

Are there weldnuts on all XJs there? And there are bolts on the passenger side? Doesn't the stock XJ skid go from the x-member to the driver side unibody? :dunno: Unless by 'passenger side' you mean where it bolts to the t-case skid...
