THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

don't bother with it, the driveshaft will be fine for one run on class VIs...knowing you, you'll start doing it, fawk it up, and not wheel :roflmao:

honestly though, I think it'll be fine. Obviously having Spicer joints in there would be preferable, but that's more of an issue with axle shaft joints than with driveshaft joints
.!.:(.!.

this is BS, i'm giving the Jeep another hour or so then calling it quits and not showing up. Somehow between taking a bumper off and putting it back on everything is completely out of line and nothing is working anymore (spacers aren't fitting, bolts are being a bitch, etc). Still gotta swap out front shafts for the ones with good u-joints and tear rear axle down to tighten stuff after I get the bumper on.

All the stuff that was supposed to be more time consuming took no time at all and the simple stuff is all fawked up. Times like this I seriously consider driving my Jeep into a tree at 40mph and probably would have by now if I wasn't parked into the garage. To top it all off I feel like shit, just came in and spent 5 min leaning over the toilette trying to keep dinner down.

oh and i came in completely expecting to get shit for giving up before 2 AM, You were able to preempt me and give me shit before I even got in. Good work.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Props go out to anthony for handing down a decent drill press. I've got a bright orange bumper with two holes drilled and tapped with a power steering cooler bolted to the back of it.

PS- JB weld is pretty strong.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Just over 12 hours until Lobster's... and I think I'm going to skip it. I'm curious as to see how long I can go without wheeling.
Malarchy, I'm following you guys up there.

Fawk it, come without a bumper, or throw it on halfass like mine :dunno:

Secondly, wheel with the shitty shafts, if you break them, you have spares :D

NO EXCUSES SCOTT (Don't get mad, just giving some words of encouragement) :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

If my truck moved under it's own power i'd be going. You guys are stupid.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Mark - about bailing, I hope! I have damn near a whole xj front end packed up for you already :roflmao:

Ima be wheeling a vehicle that won't fit on anyone's trailer with a bad head gasket and 5 cylinders firing, if I can make it you can scott. I bet if you put a jack in the right spot your frame will tweak back enough to get that bumper on  go for it and hope for the best.

Also appears I forgot to buy beer and bake cookies for this event :dunno: oh well

It looks like we might have a winner tomorrow in our bet about who will go wheeling first.

Haha, no worries, I'll be going tomorrow. Just felt like throwing that out there.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

got lots of cleaning to do tomorow, and worky on jeep, got seats mounts to redo and shackles to modify

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Hahaha you almost got me there mark. Ps I found some wire and stuff and packed it, couldn't find the stuff I was looking for though.

Anyone feel like helping change some 250lb tires tomorrow at the asscrack of dawn? I'm quite certain I won't have any fun doing it alone and they could really use it. Either way I'm going though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I think the meeting time tomorrow was 10:30AM... how long after that will people be heading out for the roads? I got there late last time so idk how long people just hung out before actually wheeling...

I have been super pissed all night (well from probably 8 until 10ish I was). after sitting down, taking a breather, and having some water I felt a lot better when I went back to the garage and was suddenly super productive... Then I was told I had to get out since my folks are going to bed (their room is above the garage so I was being too loud )

and I am kinda worried that at least one of my shitty shafts may be brute force too so I really want to get those out of there  Damn copllege days of scratching up the $$ to pay for cheap parts.

Oh believe me the high lift was out and used quite a bit. Got the passenger side bracket done in the last half hour, going to try and get up at 6ish tomorrow, pull apart the rear end on the driveway and tighten that down before people are awake, then start tearing the front axle apart to where I have to beat on the hubs to get them off (and hopefully by that time the folks will be awake and I can start being loud). Then finish the rear bumper since that's the loudest part and should be done. Maybe if my buddy stops by before we are leaving I will have him install the 2nd fire extinguisher

I really do want to make it, I just thought about it and between working from home and all I put in a 50 hour week this week with averaging out to over 2 hours of work on the Jeep per night. And I have been an insomniac all week too and can't sleep until later than 1 on any given night.

I am surprisingly upbeat. 40 min ago I seriously wanted to destroy the Jeep and just be done with it.

edit: oh damn, just checked the address, i didnt think it was that far away from my house. looks like I am leaving earlier than I originally planned or showing up later than 10:30.

You better win otherwise you SUCK.

Haven't you done close to nothing to your jeep in the last year and half? I think the first 1 1/4 years were spent thinking about what you were going to do for a front bumper.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Carmelo, glad it's workin out alright for ya. You should come check out mah new one at next weeks buffchick pizza party.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

FML. of all god damn nights for power to go out at my house. Just got up an working on the Jeep about an hour ago, at least I didn't sleep in until 10 :(

Jeep's almost done, but idk if I can make it, by the time got to NH it would be close to 12:30-1 probably. On a brighter note it's done with new front axle shafts and all. On a less bright note I can't get my rear tires off, my 1/2 to 3/8 in adapter broke and I need to use that to get the rear tires off  time to go make a run to the store for a full 1/2" socket set.

(and yes I knew I could have just run the shitty shafts and have spares, but I'm glad i tried to swap. We had one hell of a time with a couple of the hub bolts and that would have been hell on a trail rather than in my driveway)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Well holy hell I'm glad I didn't drive to NH. Just stopped by Bump's to pick up a fuel tank and got a '95 booster (anyone need a dual diaphragm booster for an early XJ? direct swap :D)

On the way back my brakes started feeling a bit weak. After a bit more driving the brake light was on. I got home and found quite the brake fluid leak, the only line that I didn't replace when I installed the rear bumper just broke. Time to replace/bleed brake lines

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

How'd you do that?

And I suppose another good thing for not heading to NH, my buddy's clutch fawked up on his way to/from work today, I spent the afternoon pulling the exhaust and some of the drivetrain. He just ran to a party to meet his mother's friends (she told him to show up for dinner even though he didn't want to go :dunno:). I am running to the store for clutch fluid, PB blaster, brake line, etc and we are dropping his trans to find out whats up when he gets back. We thought it was the slave cylinder at first but the boot over the slave cyl was full of oil or something and there was a small bolt in the bellhousing  Once we finish with his car (it's his DD so kinda takes priority) we will take care of my brake line issues.
