BECAUSE WHEELING IS NOT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE WORLD!

It's not?

:D

Whahhaahaaaaaa.

Ya, its a pain in the ass when your on the receiving end of it isn't it?

Considering my position is far different than yours I think I had every right to pester you :D

- I'm building an entire MJ...all you had to do was little things (and yes, welding on a clayton's kit I would consider little)
- I still work on the weekends and whatever free time I have as well as have a girlfriend
- I work 40 hours a week AND go to classes with homework/projects for my MASTERS. Suck it.
- I'm choosing not to go wheeling to work on MY jeep. Not to skip out and hang out with "other friends"

I WIN

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

called the mass RMV to see if I could get the year changed on the title (since it was built in 58 and titled as a 90 due to a rebuild that consisted solely of new paint and a new engine, something that would not affect any other vehicle) and the fat-assed bureaucrats want me to go back to Pennsylvania to get the seller of the M54A2 to do it... in PA... and then send me the updated title. God I hate bureaucrats, I guess I'll just register it as a 90, end up commercial due to axle count, get bent over and screwed hard, and try and make some money with the damn thing.

Was this just over the phone? I titled the J20 the other day (after holding onto it for a year and 5 months oops!) and they changed the title in the computer to say Jeep J20 (as a box as truck wouldn't compute with Jeep unless Comanche?!) as it previously said AMC spelled out and then cut down to Amer J20. If that's too long of a sentence, basically, they had the screen up with the details and manually adjusted the info.

I say show up in person and kill them with kindness, THEN try to explain about the year. Bring pictures of any VIN or plate that states the date built.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Just got a reply email from Jeff at Just differentials. I sent him my pictures of the gear pattern and he said the pinion is too shallow. Now should I continue to attempt to find a new crush collar, or just use my (now used) new one?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Any good drivetrain shop should have little crap like that laying around. If there's a Mitchell's drivetrain near you try them.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Should I clock my D300 flat? I really don't see why not.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I've heard of people reusing the old one...but I'd probably get a new one.

They're cheap right?
Yeah I'veonly crushed this one so it'snot like has ANY mileage. It's just a matter of finding one locally
And as far as price goes, I'm already up to like $40 in bearings that I've muffed up so really it can't make a difference.

Not sure but I'll check. I know there is a driveshaft shop in N Andover, MA and in Manch, NH but I dont know of anything else like that.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Does crushing it make it easier for setup? I might try using that one for setup and then crushing a new one for final assembly?

Never dealt with one before.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Crushing it would make setup easier, yes. In fact, some people pre-crush them just a tiny bit with a press to make it easier to tighten the pinion nut on final assembly.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

poop

cage or j10

cage or j10

cage or j10

i want both and both might be hard to swing at the moment.

hopefully i can get a chunk of change from scrappin my white xj with 2 4.0's in it

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

During set up I had the stock one on but I just went by the pinion preload so I have no idea. If I cant easily source one today it's getting the FIRI treatment.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

As long as you limit your droop so you don't max your front driveshaft and break off the output.

I'd clock it just enough to have a flat belly (well as flat as is reasonable).

flat belly> ridiculous flex

yeah you've got a point... another problem is that I have no real physical evidence to point to a specific year, a friend had to look it up in a military-only database via registration number to find this out for me. My VIN is "3396" so I doubt that'll prove a damn thing, since the military is wacky about that stuff and their "VIN" for vehicles this old is just the serial number off the dash plate. All in all I expect it to be a collossal pain in the ass either time or money wise.

EDIT: now that I think about it, the VIN being non-17 digit may prove that at least it was built before the 80s, adding credence to my claim, but won't prove it was '58 specifically.

Yeah... That was the only reason I could think of not to have it clocked flat. We'll see how much room I have.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You can cage an XJ anytime.

How often do you get to buy a J10.

WTF.

j10 means the j10 will start getting love and the xj will get less. other than sweet cage and shackle relocation and front bumps and fix tire carrier and leafs and rear shocks, the xj kicks ass right now and i dont want to change a thing.

but then again, how often would i find a j10 with a 5k mile drivetrain that goes fast for $600

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

oh and J10 :twak::twak::twak::twak::twak:

if you need to borrow some money to make both happen I can lend you some, interest free, can be paid off in pizzas when I am drunk but not too drunk to remember the payment.

Either of those 4.0s still good/running? I know you said one had like 0 oil pressure or something.
