Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Is there a show this thurs? Isn't the show every other week and wasn't there one last thurs?

yeah its this thursday because of the preseason starting for the pats

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Anywhere just over the border puts me at the same commute (Nashua, Milford, etc.).

What are some decent towns over the border Keith?
Are you looking mainly in that area? Or would you not mind the commute from the Hampstead/Derry area? That's teh area I know of the best.

[Rediculously long post that I read the entire thing deleted]
That's awesome Ken. Good to hear you made it home, sounds like it was a fun trip.

Awesome. I will have to do my best to leave cornhole & drinking beer early and go hang out at the show. The terrifying thing is that my Jeep might actually be ready to wheel by then too. :jester:

http://providence.craigslist.org/tls/1876076706.html i don't need them, but i just sent an email. the regulators are better than mine... and for $50 it can't hurt. my bottles are small and I'm sure i'll be using them a lot.

also, i smoked my first cigar over the weekend.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You're welcome to drop by anytime, and I'm probably taking it to the car show in Foxboro this Thursday :D

between your massive new toy, and stacking jeeps we should have a hell of a crowd around us. cant wait to see this thing

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My XJ is wheelable (though it does not meet NAXJA requirements, gotta put the hitch back on) and so is my M54.

I'll be at Lobsterfest with something wheelable no matter what. Next weekend is shot though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yes, I have been doing alot of eye rolling too. Kinda why I put the smiley there. But this time it may be accurate unless I get stuck late at work between now and thurs.

lol, well hope to see ya there in the XJ!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I may have to trek down there in my little Jap box this thursday. The Jeep wont be in one peice to make it down there by then though.

My goal is wheeling at lobsterfest now (I think my last goal was the last lobsterfest :gee:) My XJ has been wheelable for quite some time now but didn't meet NAXJA (or other) requirements. I might actually meet requirements by Thurs though if I can get my rear bumper tie ins done now that I actually have the steel to finish them. Well I will still be missing the fire extinguisher so I guess I don't meet ALL requirements, but close enough.

lol, well hope to see ya there in the XJ!
Damn straight. if I don't get my rear bumper done it will, at the very least, be bolted back on so I can show up with the XJ.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I wish it were next weekend already.

I'm not sure if I should extend my engine bay inner rail plates all the way to the spot welded pinch seams or not? I have a feeling it would be pretty easy to blow through that area.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

not that it really matters, but what did you get for fuel economy?

regular deuces will see 8-10 mpg and bobbed ones will get 10-12. if you bump up to some bigger tires, you can push the top speed to around 60-65ish

We should make a ramp off the back so we have an RTI ramp

jsut go back to the motor mount plates. and stop being a pussy about blowing .!.:D.!.

I'm gonna see if I can pick up some MTR takeoffs for cheap. I heard of a way to get 37s for like $70 each from surplus dealers, need to look into it still, the NDTs (non directional tire, really stands for non-directional travel however :jester:) are scary low on tread.

I LOVE this idea. My plan is to build two ramps so I can just drive the XJ into the back of it. The best part is that some previous owner welded some brackets onto the bed that look like I could bolt a smallish winch to them (or just a crossbar and a comealong) so I don't even have that much work left to finish it.

Oh that's another thing... ever see a 3-linked leaf sprung suspension?

:wow:

I hadn't. It's really strange looking, probably pretty common on heavy vehicles. Each 5 ton Rockwell is 3-linked to the frame and rests on one end of the leaf spring, the center of the leaf spring is attached to the frame. No shackles.

This results in VERY strange handling at approximately 54mph on cement highways with no load in the back. Both rear axles bounce up and down (then vise versa) - front bounces up, rear bounces down, and it just sorta hops. So I can now say that I've had every tire off the ground at some point, because I got both front wheels off the ground Saturday night on i81 when I hit a bad expansion joint doing about 56mph. Jumping that thing would be painful, I'm still sore from just driving it.

Yeah, he's on steelsoldiers as well, which is where I go for most MV related info. I actually emailed him last year about buying a Deuce, my plan was to fly out there and drive one back. Funny that I ended up doing mostly the same thing, just drove from PA instead of CA :jester:

You suck at reading.

I'm going further back then that, I'm just not sure if I want to weld to the pinch seams along the top and bottom of the rails or just stop short of them.

Also I bent 5/16" that the mighty Ross said wasn't doable. .!.:D.!.
