Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Dunno about rock creek this time but certainly once I'm better at 5speeds...

Also it seems I was wrong, its a multifuel not a ctd.

Marine Corps Modifications/Variations
Marine trucks were outfitted with Detroit locking rear differentials. (To aid operation in sandy conditions, i.e. beach landings) Their air filters were equipped with extended breather stacks, and they were equipped with fording kits.
Some Marine M813s were outfitted with ISO beds, with stowable sides and accomodations to stow troop seats and canvas bows. They were designed to carry standard ISO containers.

M939 Series(83-?)

Engine
Cummins NHC-250 Diesel- M939 and M939A1 series
Cummins 6CTA 8.3 Litre Turbocharged Diesel- M939A2 series trucks
-Interesting note- the 6CTA8.3 is smaller than the NHC250, rated at a slightly lower HP. It is identifiable by A) its single-cast head, B) it's turbocharger, and C) its smaller size

Transmission
All M939 series trucks were equipped with an Allison automatic transmission

Most Common Variants
M923- Truck, Cargo
M925- Truck, Cargo, with winch (hydraulically powered)
M931- Truck, Tractor
M936- Truck, Wrecker
M945- Truck, Chassis (Bridge Truck)

Some Marine M923s were outfitted with ISO beds same as their M813 trucks

Production Note: The M939 series was originally designed as an upgrade package for the M809 series trucks. They only began to be produced from "scratch" when the M939A2 series began to be manufactured

The M939 series and the M809 series trucks are being replaced by the FMTV (Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles) in the Army, and the Oshkosh MTVR series (Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement) in the Navy and Marine Corps.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

ok my day def hasnt been as cool as kens, but herez what been up

redrilled holes in clayton x member 3/4" to the drivers side, made a wooden 1/2" spacer fo imbetween the trans mount and trans(need to find a chunk of 1/2" alum to make final piece, nalso johnny replaced the steering box in his rig but DW is still there, found that balljoints are junk too, i also started cuttin steel for my frt 60 mounts, cold rolled steel plate is a bitch to cut through though

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

so does anyone have a steering box brace they want to sell? I should be getting the front bumper brackets installed tomorrow and figure since I will be pulling the steering box bolts anyway might as well toss in an upgrade if someone has something they are planning on selling :dunno:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

just order one from jcr or crok, dont put that alum turd back in, you should of planned ahead and got one in the first place

im off to the car wash to clean the DD

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You mean you shortened the list instead of making it longer?

I'd say that counts as pretty awesome.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I will probably put the aluminum thing back in and order one later on down the line. I had no plans on upgrading but I guess I can spend some extra coin and upgrade it if I find one for sale locally in the next 24 hours.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

It's pretty easy to make one.

Do you have any steel, drill, angle grinder etc.?

Yeah, and that def crossed my mind after doing some searching/shopping and seeing how simple they are (I knew they were simple, just wasnt sure on the spacing and such). Still thinking about making one depending on if mine comes out in one piece or not.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

A keg of volcano juice? NO!? Unimpressed.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Haha, where is Ken when you need him. On Extreme 4x4, there is a bobbed M530C, with airbag suspension, and they built it to haul their Suzuki, which they just drove into the bed of the truck.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

sway bar endlinks in the DD today and continue to work on mounts for frt 60

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

at work for another hour and 20ish minutes, then go home and sit there for a bit, then see anthony for awhile, maybe some PANO'S!!! while he's in the area...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Man, talk about getting measurements right the first time combined with a little luck... front bumper is almost back on and it's lined up perfectly, just gotta drill a few more holes and bolt the brackets on.

Down side is one of my steering box bolts snapped. I will take care of that eventually (probably just upgrade to a durango or YJ box) but should it be OK to move the Jeep with only 2 bolts holding it on? I just need to get the XJ out of the garage and down to the street so I'm thinking 2 bolts should be OK for that short of a distance... anyone agree/disagree?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

one hour for me until work. i have to be at the yard to assemble at 3:30, and i'm working the 6pm - noon tomorrow shift. whoohooo!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

got bored, decided it be a good idea to paint the inside of the garage, not to happy with the way its coming out,k may wind up buyin a bunch of cheap paneling, i think the studs look like shit

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So my motorcycle no-start issue came back :banghead: I'm thinking either I have a bad relay somewhere that sometimes isn't latching off and causing a drain on the battery. Either that or my stator is on its way out and it is providing just enough charge to run the bike but isn't keeping the battery charged, so it won't start.

Strange though, it started fine yesterday after sitting for almost 2 weeks, ran fine all day (well ran like crap at first but then started feeling real good after a while), and I started/stopped it at least a dozen times over the course of the 3 hours I was riding... all with no issues :dunno: Then I went out an hour ago to start it and it was dead as a rock, I got a jump, went for a ride (was running fine), then as soon as I shut it off it was dead again, barely able to turn the engine over. So I got no clue where to start looking for the issue, I can't decide if I should put the Jeep on the back burner and work on the bike or ignore the bike now. Got the front bumper done, brackets are painted and drying now, going on the Jeep tonight or tomorrow after work.
