Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread
got some shit done tonight with adam. axles, gas tank, rear quarter glass, rear bumper and some other crap is all out/off. used the torches for a lot of stuff. so much faster and easier than actually disassembling crap that doesn't need to get saved...
That's how I felt when I got my sawzall, and again when I got my angle grinder. I would like to get a torch at some point but don't really have a compelling reason for it yet, so it's on the "only buy if I see one for a really really amazing price" list.

You're giving me bad idea after bad idea... are you TRYING to get me in trouble? :roflmao:
goin to the parts store tomorow to buy center pins and u bolts for the dd, guess whats gettin done and whats not gonna get done

arty:
they'll prob have the crappy grade 5 ubolts but they will get me by for a week till i can get better in
I have a set of Ubolts for the 8.25 sitting around spare if you want them. I won't have any 8.25s aside from the one going into the MJ (which came with Ubolts) after I get my next rig together so they are all yours.
no cop in their right mind is gunna pull it over, theyre just gunna think its some military going somewhere and not even wanna bother with it. dress the truck up either full military style or with a bunch of flags so it looks like youre going to a parade.
They get pulled over all the time actually - I've been on steelsoldiers.com for a few months trying to learn what I can expect to be broken and how to fix it, and there was a pretty good thread on this. Usual questions:
* license and registration? (just to make sure it's not stolen off a base - and uh, this would be a problem)
* wow, this thing is awesome, how much did you pay for it?
* where the hell can I get one!? (after answer to last question)
Hell, in some of the smaller more friendly towns, the guys even get asked if they (the officers) can ride along for a bit.

EDIT: Post #7 seems to tell me to do what Bump is saying... this could be interesting
Post #19 makes me crack up every time I read it. "Nice Halftrack, we had to come by because we received no fewer than 6 calls to 911 about machineguns on a tank."
So he calls in to radio (This is city of Atlanta Zone 6) that he has a tank stuck at the intersection of piedmont and monroe. I ask if I can go back to getting it started and he says sure, knock yourself out. Then about 2-3 minutes later the entire watch shows up because they CANNOT believe what they just heard on the radio. They all park on the side of the sidewalks, behind me, in nearby parking lots and all come over to look at the 'tank'. One even offers to assist with hand cranking but then gives up after about three tries.
Yeah I'm not claiming this thing to be complicated.
You didn't do new bearings/seals in yours?
I probably have...
-$212 for rebuild
-$70 for input shaft
-$70 for bearing retainers
So probably about $350. But it should last me a long time...
My parents paid over two thousand dollars to have the terrible chrycrap in their old dodge minivan rebuilt, so in "normal person" terms I think you're doing pretty good.
