THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The real problem is that some of this stuff requires a garage before it can really drive... and to get to a garage I need to drive. Somewhat of a catch 22.
 same here.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Maybe even move the shifter legend back into place so I stop putting it in neutral while aiming for reverse :anon:
I broke that little orange peice about a year and a half ago. It never says what I'm in but it's not hard to figure it out.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

time to toss some wheel studs in the freezer, could even toss the disc in the oven to make everything go together better, brilliant

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, just takes some getting used to. I just shift it once back from park to get R, three back to get D, etc etc. Throws me the first time every time I get in it though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, that catch 22 sucks. Though I kindof ignored that 'it needs stuff to take it on the highway' thing and just made it look as legal as possible when stuff didn't work. I.e. if I had to get back to college (or home from college) and I had my front clip apart to owrk on headlights... well clip went back on and I drove during the day. put the washer blades up far enough to cover my big ol' 'R' and hopped on the road. I never had any problems :eyes: knock on wood.

Why didn't I think of putting my wheel studs in the freezer. Sonofa. That would have made life a bit easier.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I tried swapping the round stock, looks like they ALREADY shipped my order...that's ridiculous.

I'm going to return the galvi rod and use the unpolished. I'd rather not inhale that crap.

It's more the fact that I know it's not roadworthy - if it was just looks, the hell with it, I could care less, I drove it for a few days with 2/3 of a quarter panel gone and the headlights zip-tied in (only during the daylight hours of course.) It's the fact that if I hit a bump at highway speed, I don't know if I'm going to be on my lid, blowing a tire, wrecking my axle and driveshaft, or what else. If the shackle lets loose the tire is going to get sucked into my wheel well, screw up the sheetmetal badly, slash the tire open, probably bend or break the leaf, likely pop the driveshaft out, and really just ruin my day. I need to do a LOT more low-speed testing and probably find someone I trust to look at the welds before I trust it on the highway.

Just do it on a windy day really, or with a vent fan going. Also, HD has non-galv rod in sizes at least up to what I gave you, I use it for anything that involves a welder or torch.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

colin, i wouldn't worry too too much about fumes, i'm just saying you're going to almost certainly screw up the coating. just use that and POR-15 it when you're done.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

HD doesn't have 3/4".

Too late, already shipping both. No big deal. I'll probably just save both of them or something. I'm sure I can find a use for them.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I want to see you dip that round stock in some POR-15.

Or you could buy 5/8" round stock, dip it a couple times, and BOOM!!! 3/4" round stock.

In other news, every day that I will be lifting Melissa's Jeep will be rainy except for Tuesday. I'm gonna get soaked and it's gonna suck.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

adam, :thumbdn:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That sucks Adam.

On a different note, looks like Wed-Fri will be 70-80 degrees for NACfest!! (Tremont, PA)

Saturday is scattered t-storms. Not sure on Sunday yet.

Granted, this is all from weather.com...on the 10-day forecast...and NACfest is 6 days away...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i just may be very broke on weds heading down, pending some deals that are coming up

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So after my recent purchases, I'm definitely not going to NACFest, as I need to stop spending money.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I don't think I will be at NACfest :( Next year, definitely next year. By then I will be ready. I am saying that now.

That gives me a year to make tie-ins for my rear bumper and finish breaking in the gears... I think I can work with that schedule

THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!

I did my rear leafs in the driveway, one at a time, in a torrential downpour... just make sure it's a hot day and you have plenty of beer on hand and you won't care. Put the beer UNDER the jeep or it gets diluted by the rain :thumbdn:

oh hell yeah. The 10 day forecast isn't usually too bad anymore, remember back when the 3 day forecast was worse than the 10 day is now?

Adam and I have you beat.

Last year NACfest, Adam's fuel pump crapped out on the way down. We pulled my XJ off the trailer, pulled his on, and I drove my XJ the remaining like 2-3 hours down.

We got a new fuel pump and got to the hotel parking lot at like 9 or 10? It was a torrential downpour/thunderstorm. We did the fuel pump on the trailer in...I think like an hour and a half or something?

Yes that's right. We did a fuel pump outside a Hampton Inn in a torrential downpour, and Adam wheeled Rausch Creek the next day with it.

oh hell yeah. The 10 day forecast isn't usually too bad anymore, remember back when the 3 day forecast was worse than the 10 day is now?

 Yup sure do. Couldn't rely on it at all. I used to use weatherbug.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Two completely different outlooks on life.

I love it.

:D
the difference is my shit will get put to use as his stuff will sit in the garage colecting dust i mean like have the swampers even been installed yet? i would of had them shits installed first day, it only took me like 2 days to install mine

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I did the rear floors, shock crossmember, and 3 feet of frame rail in a torrential downpour. I didn't put the floors back in yet (no time for that) so doing the gas tank in the rain was easy, I just stood under the hatch.

I hope I don't beat you there for real this year... my engine in the MJ is making angry enough noises that I'm seriously wondering if I will end up doing an engine swap on the side of the road. I have almost all of the gaskets I'll need coming in the mail shortly, and the rest of the parts are either in storage or on the list for Saturday's JY run.

I also walked uphill both ways to school.
