So I managed to put my 16GB thumb drive through the washing machine and drier. I reassembled it and plugged it in and it works fine. Only thing that happened is hte activity LED got torn off. I didn't think this would bother me but the system at work fails to detect the thumb drive once in a while and I have to reboot to get it to detect... now I never know when it has failed to detect it unless it just doesn't come up in the system (I used to know right away when the LED didn't come on). Maybe I will have to stop by radioshack and see if htey carry the little surface mount 'grain of sand' LEDs and solder one on.

i've had all sorts of good stuff go through the wash/get dropped in a toilet and come out fine. thumb drives, 2 way radios, i know i'm missing a few things too.

My old cell phone took a swim with me once. Came out fine.

I really gotta find that thing. I THINK it should be in one of my drawers somewhere but I let a friend borrow it to try and activate it on his account once when he broke his old one and couldn't afford a replacement... I'm wondering if he lost it (he claims he doesn't have it but I couldn't find it the last time I looked for it). I want to add a line to my account and just use that as a JY phone since A) I dont care about it and B) it doesn't break.

in the last week or so i have:

-purchased pristine red gas tank for my bike
-found pristine blue tank for sale
-bought blue tank
-sale pending on red tank
-bought key blanks for bike
-bought new struts for the GTI cuz one of em is bent and if i'm doing one i'm doing all of them
-bought 2 bodywork pieces that i thought fit my bike
-attempted to install said bodywork, discovered it doesn't fit
-resold said bodywork
-haven't done a damn thing with the jeep

I dropped my cellphone into a bowl of cereal a few months ago. Tore it apart, washed everything off, let the parts dry and put it back together, works just as well as it did before (albeit this is not a very good thing, it was being a POS before and still is now.)

The best busted flash drive I ever saw was one a co-worker brought to me for recovery... his kids managed to knock the laptop it was plugged into right off the table and broke the PCB inside the drive in half. We found another drive exactly like it for sale on ebay (same size, make, etc etc) and I transplanted the flash chip from one board to the other... worked well enough to recover the data on it. Nearly went cross-eyed soldering that damn TSSOP package chip onto the board though :looney:

EDIT: Anthony, at least you managed to sell the extra stuff.

Speaking of which, anyone want a free 97+ fuel tank? No fuel pump assembly included and it's got a 1/2" hole in the bottom of the tank that I patched using a SS bolt, nitrile rubber, and epoxy, but it's free free free and I want it out of my storage unit.

yeah, and i sold it for what i paid. i only lost out on about $40 in shipping. sucks but not the end of the world.

Damnit, so I told myself I was going to the gym today (but already said I would prolly come up with some lame excuse not to go). I just got a message from a buddy I don't see often anymore asking if I wanted to go grab a couple beers and some food after work. :doh::laugh:

I think I will just leave early and still stop by the gym... I gotta get my ass in gear one of these days and I am finally feeling a bit motivated today.

I would love to get the rk trackbar except I am wondering how it will work since I have to relocate the trackbar bracket above the axle. Figure at the very least I will have to modify the bar but idk yet.

Ross / cmelo: I'll probably be hitting Stoughton/Foxboro around 1800.
Mark: I can be in Boston around 1830 to 1900 - would you be around to get the explorer mirror then?
Bill: Probably would end up in Westminster around 2000, I would say we should meet up halfway somewhere but it's not much different from me just driving home and I want to see the progress made, plus I'm not 100% sure this TPS works (poked it with a DMM and it seemed OK but you never know) so I'd feel bad if you drove to pick it up and it ended up being a dud.
