THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Why bother? Just use the existing fittings and some 3/16" ID vinyl hose.

I'm not sure what thread they are, but I can tell you they both use an 11mm wrench. I'm not sure if the booster or MC I got is shot, or if I just didn't bench bleed it (doh) so I picked up a spare WJ master cylinder this morning, with fittings, for $25 with a warranty.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

im going to pick up the bench bleeding kit just because it's only $5. it will be easier for me to do that than to find some tube and rig up something myself

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

colin, i see that i messed up the details of your father's car. i shall remember them this time around.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Does anyone by a slim chance know the size of the bolts that are used to bolts cross member to frame in a 97 xj..some reason i'm missing one on one side.right now i have one soaking in PB blaster.will let it soak til tomorrow and i can pull it out to compare at hardware store

(but i figured in case someone had one laying around that they could measure, save me from taking a chance of braking one off in the frame..be appreciated..)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

they're 8x1.75 or 8x1.5 threads, the stock bolt heads/nuts are 15mm. i want to say 8x1.5...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

:banghead: guess I'm driving the xj to work tomorrow and pulling the mc to bleed it tomorrow night.

Go to home depot and buy some clear tubing.

Attach clear tubing to MC lines

Pump brake pedal until no more bubbles are in the lines

Reattach MC lines

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yep, that's my plan for tonight. The master cylinder points up fairly significantly with the WJ booster swap so I'm worried about getting bubbles out of the very end of it, I'm probably just going to back the MJ up onto some ramps to make it level.

The reservoir is also full of nasty sludge, so I may pull that and hose it out with brake cleaner before doing any of this.

Mine sits fine and that's how I bled it, worked BOSS

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Water in master cylinder is a bad idea BTW

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That brake fluid shit is MAD hydroscopic, bro.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I know - I'll be applying my standard fix, brake cleaner. I swear that shit is holy water, it can do anything and solve any problem. I use it like people use WD-40 and duct tape.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have to go douse my front axle shaft U joints in wd40 or something soon too now that you remind me.

As for brake cleaner, I use brake cleaner, carb cleaner and started fluid all interchangeably. As far as i'm concerned they all do the same thing :dunno:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

They all burn pretty well too :gee:

97xjowner (sorry, completely forget your name) - if your rust is like mine, having new ones on hand won't change the fact that the old ones will break off, it'll just make it easier to deal with. Might want to make sure you have the right drills and taps on hand...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

god damnit... i just read todays xkcd... then i read the mouse-over text a min later. guess what i spent that min doing?
