Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sure, there is, but I would bet that if you just feed full power to the element all the time you will either burn it out or melt/set the seat on fire. If it has a temp sensor in it, it's probably using it in closed loop mode to pulse width modulate the element and keep it at the required temp. Duplicating that wouldn't be very hard, but it'd require taking some measurements from a stock seat working in a WJ OR some info from the FSM to do.
oh, hey Colin...just thought i'd let you know...

BURNED!!!!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

things I am not looking forward to: leaving at 6:30 AM to get to the JY by 7:30 AM tomorrow

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

major clean up is awesome!!! i had to do that after i moved the nova out, there was ATF everywhere.
i just got tools n parts everywhere, gotta get the new motor for the dd on the engine stand and get that ready to go in, i dont forsee alot hapening tomorow though, i lack motivation

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yeah I just swamped out the back of the XJ for the first time in like six or eight months, it was a disaster back there. I have 4 seats again though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Are you guys all dumb, or can you read what I posted before? Have you not read all the posts of people trying to get their WJ seats heaters to work?

Yes, Adam has ZJ seats, and I've already talked to him. I'm getting WJ seats.

The thing is, the WJ seats have temp sensors in them. I looked at wiring diagrams for both the ZJ and WJ, and they are different. It would be sweet if all I have to do is send power to them, and I'll be happy if thats that, but the WJ site I looked at says that the signals go through the damn computer that controls all the interior functions, Adam even said that.

Why would I not get OEM switches? (Not to mention there are like 5 terminals coming out of the OEM switches)

Wow, I'm surprised you suggested that.

And why would I not wire them up so they work as they should, so they realize how hot they are and keep that heat, rather than burn the seat? (as burning the seat is a common problem with them as it is)

That shows.

Nope, definitely too high tech for me.

Sure, there is, but I would bet that if you just feed full power to the element all the time you will either burn it out or melt/set the seat on fire. Either that, or I'm overthinking this too. I tend to do that when it comes to electronics.

EDIT: who the hell needs silly crap like heated seats anyways? My ass doesn't get cold when I get in the XJ in the winter because I am WEARING PANTS. My hands however are generally freezing if I forgot my gloves.

XXXXing dickwads made me go through my FSM for my truck. I'm going to assume all the WJ stuff is the exact same setup as my truck (which I'd be surprised if it wasn't).

There's the CTM (Central Timer Module) located under the dash that controls a lot of the interior accessories, so you were right there. There is a positive feed to the control module sent through a fuse and relay from the battery (not sure what pin on the WJ).

The module receives input from the temp sensors, and sends the battery power to the heating element depending on which switch is pressed and at what temperature the elements are currently at.

So it looks like all you need is the CTM. If you don't have that, then I wouldn't even bother hooking it up.

You could also probably manual wire in the ZJ stuff.

Why do you need the heated seat portion anyway? I say eff it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Speaking of FSMs... I am going to page around in my 96 FSM and see if I can learn any random things.

And then I am going to go to sleep so I can wake up early for the junkyard tomorrow.

EDIT: vvv WEAR PANTS!!!! :twak: you won't need a heated seat vvv

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i'd hook it up. i like heated seats, especially when it's cold. (DUH!)

i think you already know everything about every single cherokee on the face of the earth considering that you've read and replied to nearly every thread no naxja.

Nope... nowhere near, and staying that way. I don't really give a damn :spin1:

And no, I still have lots left to learn before I know even a tenth what I want to...

EDIT: cruise won't work over 85mph.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Nope... I never realized it. Happened to see the page on cruise control and it won't let you cruise below 35 (knew that) or above 85 (did not know that.)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

did you know the cruise on a vette works at 160
