THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

PS I tripped over the drums off your 14bolt and nearly landed in that damn lake of swamp water we were standing in last time :gee:

those drums can go to hell in a hand bag. lake = homemade water mattress

Sorry, didn't see this in time... I'd bet on a couple hundred, unless you can get Ross to really hulk up and carry one. I think they weigh like 700 apiece though.

900# theyre no light cookie.

1/4" wall works fine for the 2x6 if the price is right. same with the 2x2.

I never measured for rockers so I guesstimated 14 ft (to give myself some extra) and I will also need some to add to the rear bumper to wrap around once I cut my fenders... I could get away with 16 ft I guess but the extra 4 could be used for a crossmember somewhere so I wasn't complaining about having extra steel laying around. Plus most places I have found charge at least $15-20 for a cut (highest was $30), so I figure getting a full length is better rather than paying to cut 4 ft off.

well, i may be just getting full FULL lengths, 40 footers. 12, 12, 12 with a 4 foot drop. 2x6 is pretty fat for the wrap arounds, mine are only 2x4.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sounds like that alarm needs to be disabled/removed ASAP.

Yep, but its all good now because I took off the door panel and found out that the sensor that goes on the lock cylinder to detect if you unlock it with the key was floating in space. It is now hooked back up and I can unlock the door safely with the key. Its cool, The interior lights now come on as soon as I unlock the door with the key, pretty snazzy.

Best thing is, I no longer have to use that DAMN KEY FOB!

Doesn't brake fluid rape RTV...?
Ya, but if you noticed I said the booster is leaking where the master cylinder enters it. The booster leaks air, not brake fluid, I just had a big vacuum leak is all.

It is a moot point anyways, because of this:

Colin, exactly what I thought of on the phone with you happened. The gasket for the master got sucked into the booster, and it was chilling in there. Vacuum leak is now gone, but I still don't have the hardest pedal in the world.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sounds like you need to bleed the system again now Mark. Sometimes it takes multiple tries to get all the air out if it's trapped up near the MC.

I have a feeling this is going to be a long week. But tomorrow I'm gonna go pick up some 1x1x.125" square tubing to make a frame for my gas tank in the XJ. Welding to the floor is going to be fun

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

It has been bled, multiple times. Its a pain in the ass.

Are you volunteering your tools, driveway, and assistance????

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I don't need a Begleyed vehicle in my driveway, my dad would get pissed :D.

Ross, I might swing by later on tonight to check out that drill press. What time is that Lowe's open until? Like 9 or 10? I should be able to get down there by 7 if you're around.

Lowes is still open when I get out of work so atleast 9. Drill press? I want one! How much!? GIVE ME IT

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

There's this strange humming at work (sounds kindof like the sound that I have heard from hot water pipes/heaters. Idk where it's coming from and it happens once in a while, but this is going to drive me (literally) insane. Normally it's a constant sound, now it's starting and stopping and changing tone and ARGHASDJFAHSFD.

I think I need to head into the labs to get away from this, though I need to get some desk-type work done for now. :banghead:

I GOT DIBS!!!

It's the same one that Ross has, I'll probably buy it tonight if everything looks good.

I'm going to need one when I make all the plating for the MJ. I think another few days of welding for a few hours and I'll be comfortable enough to make the gas tank frame. It's going to take me a bit to get comfortable welding to the sheetmetal though.

I sit right next to the UPS closet, there's constant humming/vibrations all day.

I don't even notice it anymore.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

colin: how low in RPM does it go? ross tries to drill metal like it's wood with his. if it can't go 200 rpm or less, don't bother.

carmelo: what time on sundays works for you?

i don't even have a UPS for either of my work computers :dunce:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i could probably do next sunday around 5 or 6pm?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

ah. i'll see if i can get there by 4.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I still have to talk to the people in charge that. One of them is Adam's cousin and the other is a kid that probably wont care. Either way I would really appreciate that engine stand

Yeah, I used them as stepping stones to get across the lake. 900?! HOLY CRAP

It is a moot point anyways, because of this:
Excellent. I was guessing that switch was corroded and finding a new one will be impossible I bet, so you got lucky... misread the booster bit, for some reason I thought you had a leak where the reservoir connects to the MC.

Sounds like you need to bleed the system again now Mark. Sometimes it takes multiple tries to get all the air out if it's trapped up near the MC.

Just so you know, trying to find a whole new fuel pump assembly for an MJ is like hunting for a white whale. I suggest a fuel cell.

10 at the one near me.

Sheetmetal you just need a lot less heat, it's not too too bad. I usually dial in my settings with pieces of scrap of the same metal I'll be welding so I can avoid blowing holes in the sheetmetal for the first half inch.

colin: how low in RPM does it go? ross tries to drill metal like it's wood with his. if it can't go 200 rpm or less, don't bother.

carmelo: what time on sundays works for you?
X2, low rpm or bust. I had to put a 1 7/8" hole saw through the end of a piece of 2" poop pipe last night at something like 600rpm, it mostly consisted of going REALLY SLOW till it jammed, then backing it off and letting the motor spin free for a few seconds to cool it off again and repeating.

I need to get a drillpress for my plating as well. I am thinking about maybe picking up a small one used. Either that or I will just use a hand drill for my plating :gee: And welding sheetmetal isn't too bad, though my welds were anything but pretty. Now that I played with sheet for a while II get to go and start welding bigger stuff. I should played with the welder & torch this wkend but I got lazy and didn't feel like digging them out.

When I am in the labs that's what it's like... the lab is literally full of servers running, massive fans for ventilation systems & fans for environmental chambers, all sorts of stuff. That noise doesn't bother me at all. Couldn't stand the noise from this morning though. Speaking of it... it JUST stopped as I was typing this message. Knock on wood. :)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

carmelo, the engine stand has your name on it. not really, but if it makes you happy i'll pull out my sharpie. also, i'm not sure if i want to do it this weekend. i might get new struts for the front because for some reason the pass side fr sits 1/4" lower than the DS (even on level ground).

So don't park on level ground :dunno:
