THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Wooo, motorcycle tires came in today! Time to go drop the bike off. I just wish they were open yesterday so I could drop it off then (and pick it up today). I want to ride into work tomorrow since it will be like 80 out. :(

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Why drop it off?

I helped change the tires on a motorcycle sunday, we used a two by four, a few lag bolts, an old steel wire brush handle, two tire irons, and a large air compressor. Took about 15 minutes to do the second tire, the first took more like an hour. Balancing had to be done professionally.

EDIT: yeah, half my friends are the "I pay other people money to do that kind of thing" sort with regards to cars and houses, but a good portion of my family are pretty into this sort of stuff. One of my aunts bought a shitpile house and rebuilt it then sold it for a ~200% profit when she was around my age, then bought and sold a few more houses after that, and now lives in a house she and my uncle built from scratch which is powered entirely by solar panels.

hahaha you got it. My plan is to mark anything that can be destroyed with orange spray paint and hand out the tools... a few people at a time because I don't really want things to get TOO out of control.

Better keep the orange spray paint under lock and key or else the whole house might wind up with it on it. :explosion

I'm dropping it off because mounting isn't going to cost TOO much and balancing, like you said, had to be done professionally anyway so I figured why not just let them do all of it. I mounted my dual sport tires and never got them balanced, we did pretty well with small adjustments ourselves because it rides smooth. But I won't trust myself to balance a tire that will see higher speeds than the dual sport did (i.e. my street bike).

And the new tires look very nice compared to what I have on there. Can't wait :D

And I am officially now paying rent :( hoped to avoid that one a bit longer. At least it's pretty damn cheap. My father told me he thinks maybe I should start paying so I whipped out a pile of $100s and paid him off. Tried to pay him off for the next 2 months (so maybe he would forget for a couple months after that) but I only had enough for 1.5 months on me...

haha, yeah, my parents told me I could stick around till I had a job and enough saved up for first/last/deposit. I was actually out way before then, living at home was driving me nuts. Started work July 7, went to California for training halfway through August, came home and moved into my apartment as of the start of September, though I was borrowing a car till mid September when I found my XJ on CL and bought it.

the orb is flapped, filed, sanded, and stoned :greensmok
awesome :yelclap: I want pics, checking build thread now

the 14bolt isnt cool enough to get its own build thread. time to start cutting up some more 1/4" plywood and mock up another truss.....

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Oh yeah, how did I get the 14 and 60 confused? Oops.

I think I might even get out of work by 7 tonight...

My parents said I could stay here for a while until I get some savings for a house or something... but I think they feel like I am buying too many toys and have too much money :shhh:

Now they are charging $400 per month. So that just means I have to sell my car and stop paying $300 on that to offset the rent bill and keep the Jeep funds about the same. :laugh3: Part of me wants to get an apt but who knows. My father was talking about it and said "I was thinking 400-500, you think that's fair? you gotta think it also includes electricity, food, etc".

.. I almost said "yeah well I only at at home once per day at the most, (including on wkends), Plus I lose the privacy of having my own place and have to deal with the kids siblings when they are being annoying shits, etc" but then he said he just wants $400... so I didn't complain. I'm not gonna beat that unless I find someone who wants to rent out a room for cheap. and really I probably wasn't going to complain anyway. I was just thinking that and will be keeping my eye out for a room for rent or something.

I realized I just don't really want to buy yet since I don't know if I want to stay around here... houses are cheaper out in western MA (I pretty sure) compared to around where I am now. And on the ride out to wilbraham to pick up doors of Billy I realized I kindof really want to move back out that way. I just felt better driving out that way for some reason. So I think I might spend another 6-12 months here at the parents house and then start house shopping and applying for work out that way. I may be able to get a job out in Pittsfield pretty easily but that's way the fawk out there, though I did kindof like it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

This week is going to be somewhat super awesome:
Yesterday sucked.
Today was super busy (and flew by) until about 2:30-3. Then my boss and I discussed airsoft until 3:30, then dicked around on the internet till 4... when he starting packing up and I gave him shit telling him it was my day to leave early.. so we both left at 4.
Tomorrow he leaves super early to get home and get his kids to head into boston for the sox game, so I leave at 4 again to pick up the motorcycle with new tires.
Thurs might suck, expect it to be slow since I just took care of tons of work today. I don't know.
Friday (if all goes as planned) I leave just after lunch to go get 20 ft of DOM for my steering.

Vacation time used: 0 :D Though I did work till 9 on monday and stay on email/working from home at night most of the time. Though I typically don't work "full time" while at home. I tend to work with other stuff mixed in.

I'm hoping to be there by 6:30pm.
NICE! That is about what I pay for plain old BoA checks (which used to be free).
Yeah hurry up! :D

I need to practice welding ASAP.
Dude, I gave you all that scrap. I also have more if you need it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

20ft of 3x3 3/16 angle
20-24ft of 2x6 3/16 rect
20ft of 2x2 1/4 box
20ft of 1ft wide 1/8 plate

think thats enough for two jeeps to get completely stiff and boatsides? if i remember correctly, its like jsut a touch over 5ft on each side for the rockers, i gotta double check with Bill
