THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

if anyone ever bothers to regear, just go the deepest the axles will take.

oh yeah 14 bolts are mad easy to gear and setup, like MAD EASY!!!! :D

I didn't necessarily agree with "go as deep as possible" at first. Now after driving my re-geared rig I do. My new policy is "go as deep as possible. if you need to get to highway speed just run bigger tires for the street"

And glad to hear 14 bolts are easy. Theres a pretty good chance that is my next axle (not going to work on it until next year, but still, good to know).

No kidding. I am insanely jealous of that removable pinion mount and how easy it is to change the shim stack because of it.

EDIT: side adjusters too? damn, I want one. Too bad I'd have to beef up the rest of the jeep to handle it and run much bigger tires to get clearance back... yeah not doing that

I wasn't going to go to tons for a while, like years down the line, aka that's why I was talking about full width 9"/HP44... but it ends up I think plating will be happening alot sooner than previously expected. I.e. probably happening before NACfest.

I figure I need rockers so I might as well upgrade to 2x6x3/16 tube instead of new rockers plus rock rails. I then figured that with 2x6 I would probably end up killing my B-pillar pretty quick since I have a 2 dr and a couple good hits would kill it, which means I need to tie the 2x6 into my unibody. That in turn means I "need" something relatively strong to mount to on the unibody so I figure plating will be the best way to kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

sams old mj is officailly dead, almost everything from the firewall foward is stripped out

I might of missed this but what happening to the MJ body?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I found 4wheelerssupply.com has superior 4.56 for the 8.25 for $212 and d30 for $188 and free shipping. So it'll $400 in gears, and I'll peice out an install kit at napa to save a couple of bucks. I just wish I could find a company that has 4.88 for the 8.25 for under $235. That's the cheapest I've found.

You'll hate yourself if you go to Napa to price out an install kit.

I went to Napa to price out replacement bearings for my rear 44, and it cost over $300 to replace just the bearings.

Have you checked with any of our sponsors? I went to National Drivetrain and got a Master Install shipped for under $100. after taking apart the axle, I'm really glad I got the install kit.

Gosh Mark, does your NAPA guy dislike you as much as the rest of us do? That is insane.

yeah screw you too :moon::D I am very jealous of such axles, sadly I have no reason to even consider them and it's going to be staying that way.

EDIT: anyone got a '90 FSM I could borrow for a bit? I want to find out how much trouble I'm getting myself into while building this air compressor. I'm a RENIX tard and the 4cyl + TBI are completely foreign to me, so I'm going to need all the info I can get.

EDIT2: ahhhhh crap, Colin, has the trash gone out yet? Any chance you still have the MAP sensor for the MJ or is it the same as for a RENIX 4.0?

Well my dad is friends with our local(ish) Napa and another autoparts store so we get everything at their cost, but while on the phone with richmond gear buying junk for a 14b at his work, I asked about install kits and if they were better to peice them together yourself at a local store or to buy the whole kit online with the gears. He told me to get them locally. But that company I found has the install kit with the price so it's all good.:rof:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I did a quick search and it seems like people have actually had good luck with centerforce clutches...?

I'm tempted to get a pressure plate from them only because it it's the only one Summit carries and I know the brand.

don't worry about it, you already gave me a free engine, I'll manage somehow :roflmao:

Just checked rockauto and it's a 30 dollar part even new. Time to cross ref...

EDIT: same part as the 4.0. I'll yank one out of the two RENIX jeeps () presently at Sam's.

EDIT2: useful info, someone asked this at some point, the fuel pump ballast resistor is a 1 ohm resistor.

Motivation to be at work is approx 0 right now. Hell I somehow don't even have too many updates for my weekly spreadsheet so that won't take me nearly as long as it usually does.

I got this: http://www.newenough.com/street/clo...ocket/atomic_3_textile_motorcycle_jacket.html

and it fits great. for the $$ I couldn't be happier for a summer riding jacket. I just went to a local place to get an idea on the sizing for Joe Rocket, and ordered accordingly

Yeah, I was looking at some joe rocket stuff. I think the local shop sells both joe rocket and tourmaster so I will likely try both on. I like the idea of having one jacket that is both a mesh only and has a inner liner with it... my buddy who rides into work often in the summer said he would love that since (as it is) he brings two jackets in.. wears one in when it's cool out in the AM and wears the other home. I gotta try that tourmaster one on and see how I like it, but I will def be trying others on while at the shop.

joe rocket fits me well and is cheap and durable. the only reason i'd ever get another brand would be for a full leather racing suit. for that, i'd get alpine stars. i don't even need that jacket and i came very close to ordering it. if nothing, it would be a good medium weight jacket for a 2nd rider that i won't be taking... oh well.

I got plans tomorrow, going to the range with Scott then seeing Mia afterwards. Wednesday is the DWE meeting... Thursday I'll be working on the bike. Find me cheap 1.5" exhaust pipe so I can make an exhaust for it, and a stop/tail light. Otherwise, all I need to do is have Mia put it on the road, and go get the permit....none of which I have money for until at least next Thursday :rattle: Today I basically did the rest of what I was able to do without money, put the carbs back on and charged/reinstalled the battery, and bled the front brake.

Soooo, I dunno, maybe a couple weeks. Unless you want to order said exhaust pipe and have it sent to my house for me. :D
