it's not. I'm going to mess around with stuff today and figure out if it's the battery or alternator or what. I SOOO hope it's the battery, the alternator's placement was chosen by Satan himself :rattle:

Hmmm, if prices are cheaper down that way maybe I should run a few searches down there. Well I guess i mean if RI is cheaper in general.. I could get to RI in less time than it takes to get home (though not down to your area, so it would probably be a completely different part of RI) I think so maybe I should look into that.

That's what I started out looking at. Then I realized that buying land costs the same as buying land with a wreck of a house on it right now. Then I looked further and realized a foundation costs 20-30k. Then I looked again and so my requirements for the last year have been "solid foundation, solid frame, decent land". The rest is negotiable. I've done some minor foundation repair work, plumbing, electrical, roofing, framing, drywall, flooring all already... the only things I really still have to learn are installing windows and siding.

And yes, I realize that line is pretty close to signature worthy with minor changes :roflmao:

It's on his civic VX. I think the whole car would probably fit in an XJ's engine compartment, things are a little hard to get to.

same, ideally. i don't expect to live in my 1st house for more than 10 years. maybe i'll build my 2nd one... we'll see what happens. i just know i'm fed up with renting and i can afford a mortgage. i can't afford the time to build one on my own.

Ideally I planned on the same. Find an acre or so lot somewhere and buy that. Then build a big ass garage (approx 1000 sq ft) with a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment above it. Then I can build a house off that once I can afford more.

Though at the same time I am sure that will be far more expensive than I can afford (even if I got a much smaller piece of land, just the structure would prolly be more than I can afford). But damn, it would be nice

That's my ideal situation. Doubt it will ever happen though.

Just called to try and order tires for my motorcycle. Damn, what an inconvenience. I have to leave work early enough today to go home, get the bike, bring said bike to the shop, and get new tires ordered.

And while leaving early enough to get home, get the bike, and ride the bike to the shop is not a requirement... it is a requirement.

And so far my productivity level has been sub-par, or at least it feels that way since I have done nothing other than sending out emails to people in CA telling them what to do when they get into the office and that they need to have it done by noon their time (It's only like an hour worth of testing that they need to do... but I need to give them at least 4 hours to do it)

Posting lists is lame but if you know your ass from your elbow read this one. I have from as far as I can think of everything I will need to do my tranny swap and then some. I made sure I even have spare parts that I plan on reusing on the Honcho in case they end up being no good so I don't have to go running back to stoughton to get something.

I have:
Flex plate
Torque converter
Transmission and adapter
Transfercase with linkages
Dipstick
Inspection cover
Every bolt except the engine to flexplate and flexplate to converter but those SHOULD still be on there

Still need to get
4 qts gear oil
As much tranny fluid I can steal
24 in extension
9/16 stubby ratchetting wrench(someone have one I can borrow?)

I also have my FSM and TH400 rebuild book in the pile of stuff to take. Am I missing anything?

I should really just buy a set. I don't have any(good) ratchetting wrenches. I need to atleast get some gearwrench ones. I was waiting until I can get them through work though, hmmm...

Eh $100 for a flex head SAE ratchetting wrench set. I'm gonna go to sears and buy a 3/8 24" extension even though I have 24 inches worth of extensions. Maybe i'll leave with more than that.

I spent 70 on my non flex head ratcheting set, the only one I really care about a flex head on is my 15mm I got for free (found at the junkyard) which is great for torque converter bolts.

i have a ratcheting flex wrench that saved me a ton of time. i'd have given it to travis last night if i knew. i think it was ~$15 at sears.

No way in hell would I want to attempt to build a house. I'm all set with that. Have enough projects going on already. I have no problem remodeling (helped my dad with some stuff so I know my *** from my elbow), but that would be over my head.

Don't get me wrong, I would absolutely LOVE to build a house from scratch. I just don't have the cash to do it, so I'll settle for the next best thing, rebuilding a house from scratch...

Eh, the way I see it is I only want to build my house. I want to know where every wire is run, were every stud is placed, where very pipe is located, etc. I can't tell you how many times that has helped out.

I think we are agreeing on everything today, other than "buy" vs "build".

Build the garage first. That way you have a place to store your tools and to work from while you are building the house. Also, if you run out of money you can always tile the bathroom floor later, do you really want to wait for the 2 post lift?
