Lemme guess you're shopping on overstock.comm at the very least those all look familiar to a degree (maybe cheaper versions)

Of those I would say get the cheapest of the bunch. If it is an overstock special then they actually work pretty well IMHO. Maybe not as well as a super high class mask, but well none the less.

What you do have to watch out for is that big solar panel up front. I ended up turning my welding/grinding mask into a grinding only mask because I leaned forward and raised the mask conveniently at the same time... and caught said solar panel on the LCA bracket. :banghead: Needless to say I lost $$ on that mask.

Edit: looking at it again I assume its not overstock since you are listing the miller mask. Quite frankly I would buy the cheapest one and paint it myself. idc what my mask looks like. It will end up in a tool box at the end of the day anyway so the paint won't keep looking nice anyway

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sleep is dumb. I cant sleep. I have an entire drivetrain from flexplate to transfercase begging to be installed into my Honcho. Come onnnnnn Tuuueeeessssdaaaaayyyyy...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I just towed a POS honda back to t-pains house. Probably going to be mad late for work tomorrow and get homework done 20 minutes before class. Probably show up an hour late for my first class anyway. :dunno:

Oh and I'd be willing to bet my truck could tow at least 5 hondas at once.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have a quiz in a few hours. I should study for that. Instead, I am studying what I need for my drivetrain swap!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i got travis's text late last night. let me guess, the strut housing collapsed even more?

That is not overstock, and there is no way I'm even touching those overstock welding masks. Those were all Miller Elite masks. This is a safety feature for my eyes, not cutting corners or skimping on it. I've used good welding masks and I've used crappy ones, and there is a difference.

Getting the "cheapest one" doesn't apply here, they are all the same money.

I know how to weld in confined spaces, and I know what to watch out for. Mine isn't being thrown in a toolbox at the end of the day, it is going back in its protective bag and staying nice.

Not me, but i've done the same.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So yeah, I decided that I would take the car into work because I didn't feel like throwing a pair of jeans on for the ride in (slacks would have been a bit cold I think) and I didn't want to deal with warming the bike up. I really wish I had brought the bike. So nice out.

Edit: And I probably would have taken the bike if it was any other Friday but this one. Any other friday I would have thrown a pair of nicer jeans or something on and just worn those all day but the VP of my company (& my local boss) are still around the building or so I have heard. So needless to say I think anything less than slacks and a nicer shirt would be frowned upon even though my customer doesn't give a damn.

nah, something with the charging system went kahplooie and it won't stay running :gee:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I guess now I have a phone interview Monday morning with L-3 Communications for an entry level mechanical engineer, we'll see how that one goes too

edit: And if it's the position I think they were talking about when he called me this morning (I"ve applied to a few reqs), its in Texas somewhere

edit again: might be in Wilmington MA also... don't remember which req it is. damn

it's not. I'm going to mess around with stuff today and figure out if it's the battery or alternator or what. I SOOO hope it's the battery, the alternator's placement was chosen by Satan himself :rattle:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

aw man, good luck.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Got to work 10 minutes ago.

Going to blast some homework out of my *** then maybe make it to my first class. If not, no big deal. Not going to miss much anyway.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

damn dude, good luck.

i rode my bike to work today. it was 38* when i left my house. brrr.

A big difference at that. Eyesight isn't worth the money saved in the long run.

Mine doesn't get throw around either.
You'll probably laugh, but I wax mine with liquid auto wax (not the lens). Keeps it nice and for the most part the welding "extras" wipe right off. As with any mask your bound to get something that really scars the surface, but the wax helps 90% of it. 15min of work and it looks like new again.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

so, it looks like i might be purchasing a house when my current lease is up. not sure, though.
 good luck, i.e. better luck than mine. Remember that if it's not "livable" you will almost certainly need 203k or cash rather than financing it.

hahaha, that blows, but yeah I would not be surprised.

good luck. L3's got a pretty huge network, didn't realize they were looking for MEs.

Left work at 2pm yesterday (after 28 hours in the previous day and a half), hit the JY, pulled a bunch of parts, put new taillights that weren't cracked to hell on the MJ, put new tire on the MJ, did a rear diff fluid change and replaced the diff cover on the MJ (yeah I know, it's a d35, I wasted time and money), passed out at 8PM.

Yeah well with any electronics there is always the environmental enclosures, shake and bake testing, etc etc etc. They also have a pretty big facility down in Texas somewhere that does modification / "integration" of aircraft and whatnot. I'd love to work in an aircraft hanger, also aircraft hanger =/= cubicle in terms of feeling enclosed and confined

that's why i'm going to buy something livable  also, prices are a bit cheaper down here. i'm looking in or near zip 02878, if you're curious.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Prices are plenty cheap up here if you have a suitcase of cash :roflmao:

So I'm attempting to amass a suitcase of cash.

I like my houses how I like my jeeps... cheap basket cases that I can remake in my own image.
