I kind of doubt it, makes me think about calling one of the places through work though. It's atleast $100 through Jeff at crown. Over 3 times as expensive than rebuilding the transmission.

I'm telling you dont bother with doing your own. Weld in inserts are a major PITA. for $170 plus shipping all you need to do is call them, tell them what rod ends you're using and the overrall lengths you need the steering needs to be and they'll do the rest.
Man up, use rod ends or buy the taps.

Tempting but what if I make a mistake and give a wrong measurement, then I can't fix it myself. That would suck and I know for a fact that I would fawk up a measurement. :laugh: Maybe I will see how much the steel would run me and go form there. For all I know I will do something like that... maybe

Eh, If you mess up the tube/tube insert by making it too short you're down your steering anyway. If it's too long you can buy new tube inserts and redo it but I would just order from a site like that and make sure you're measurements are right.

ive been to 3 NAC Fest, i will be there this year also, haw many have you attended?, and the Atlas deal, ive already blown up a 231 with 33's i doubt one would last with me bein on 38's, fix for that problem, Atlas, so when you have to do 5 pt turns on the trail ill be like XXXX you and frt dig around your junk, wait that willl be in your driveway since you wont wheel this year eitherI can quote posts in his build thread from years ago saying that he was going to be wheeling at NACfest years ago, before the blue Jeep came into play. (I know because I've done it in his thread already
I plan on being wheeling inside of 2010 as well. I would have had half of the work I needed to get done finished last week if my brakes didn't decide to go out, and Ross actually gave my welder back.
Oh, and I don't need an Atlas, or a doubler...
