THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I loved the original. I forget the owls name...but yeah I can't wait for it.

I cannot wait to see it. It opens the day after my bday. Yes I'm an April Fool's baby, hence the constant joking.

I loved the original as a kid and actually still have in on VHS. VHS stands for vertical helical scan or video home system for those kiddies that grew up on them fancy DVDs.

Oh and come on who doesn't know Bubo the owl's name.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Well let me know. I know you said plans changed but whatever, I don't need to spend the money right.

Nope plans didnt change on this, still picking it up basically to strip/scrap. I somehow lost the tags to the 78 so this is back up if I cant find them. Also Im gonna grab a couple spare parts for myself.

Plans changed on the fact that I hoped to swap out the nv3550 to a th350 but I cant use an adapter on a 4:1 kit because of the input gear change. The 23spline input on the planetaries doesnt come off and the th350 is a 27 spline. I'll do a tranny swap when I decide to change tcases.

ah. i'm not sure if machining the shafts would have any negative consequences on the heat treatments of the shafts. every shaft we worked with at my first co-op at Pollak was heat treated very specifically. we did a lot of experimentation with different heat treatments, each of which had a big affect to the overall strength / fatigue properties. we would maybe have to find out how deep the hardened shell on the shaft is, since machining the snap ring groove past that depth may make that a severe weak point even more so than direct stress concentration
i think you're way over analyzing the snap ring groove. see below:
Isn't that groove well past the point where the axle strength is important and more into the part where it's just holding the snapring?

Anthony - I'm cleaning my apartment and I keep tripping on this dryer power cord, it's a 3 prong 30 amp plug, want it for making a welder extension cable or no? yours free I just need to know whether it goes on the pile for NAC-express or the pile for the scrapper
i want to say yes, but it's not worth it. just toss it. i have enough crap of my own already.

other news: i didn't get a damn thing done last night. :D drank beer, watched tv, and went through my weekend pictures. a tad too much beer. but it was so yummy at the time.

Well let me know how much you want for it. Kinda outta spending money for the next month due to the MJ and drivetrain.

wtf you do?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hahaha, hey Travis you got a new friend over in the introductions thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The backing plate / dust shield is all one assembly (two pieces). Without the shield you won't be able to retain the pads for the parking brake.
You'll need:
- backing plate / dust shield assembly
- parking brake shoes CHECK
- parking brake spring, adjuster and pin kit CHECK
- rotors CHECK
- loaded calipers CHECK

looks like i gotta find myself a dust shield

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

he mentioned that, iirc. Something about chicago-style voting on a poll/cherokee of the month contest I think.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'd be in for that but I bet you guys want to go during the day...

Also, wow! Check out the underground section, "little river" is something I found on my own about halfway through high school, I grew up in Haverhill.

EDIT: holy crap, I've actually explored this bridge too. I lived less than a mile from it: http://www.iussa.org/index.php?page=train_bridge
