THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm looking for something that looks like total crap preferably:spin1:
going to be splicing an MP3 player or something in through the antenna so you can have a crappy looking system to defer those who may want your sh*t but still have bumpin' tunes?

Edit: I remember that a few weeks back ken/I saw a stock radio in the yard at everetts. Highly doubt that is still there but if I go to a couple places this wkend I will keep an eye out. How much you looking to spend (tops) if I see one and no-one else on here has one to give ya?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Damnit, my portaband is an older model without the correct mounting bosses to make a plate for turning it into a band saw. this has really put a damper on how i wanna cut my knuckles. next idea is to take my dads old wood bandsaw, change the pulleys for slower RPM's and a metal blade.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

tools are fun to buy, you get to walk around and look at different brands, pick them up and feel them, touch them, touch yourself. i wish they had a Lowe's, but instead it was jsut 4x4 parts everywhere, check out different suspension bushings/joints, axle parts everywhere. you could setup a tent and camp overnight inside the store cause it would take a couple of days to look at everything.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I forsee myself purchasing many tools over the summer...
:thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup:

I need to stop buying tools, it's cutting into my budget more than I would like it to. Fortunately I'm running out of tools to buy :D

and yeah, most junkyards have a bajillion stock head units around, most of em are even still in the cars. Problem is, they want like 20 or 30 bucks for em iirc.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I want to be in the damn driveway pulling my rear axle and getting the 8.8 ready to go in... sucks that this weekend is going to be terrible weather for it, it'll have to wait... again...

if you want i can maybe help out / offer garage space in exchange for some beer, i've been itchin to even just wrench - it's been too busy of a week

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Kyle - that'd be awesome, though doing an axle swap in your garage seems like trouble since it's anything but bolt-in. The way it's looking, the procedure is going to be like this:
* put XJ in driveway
* pull rear axle out
* do hack-n-tap SYE
* roll 8.8 under, get pinion angle set up and perches placed properly, tack perches in place
* roll 8.8 out from under, weld perches myself?, strip down 8.8, bring it + beer to Ross, have him weld the tubes and/or perches
* bring 8.8 back, bolt it up, connect brakes
* scratch head and drink beer while trying to figure out what to do with the driveshaft. Hopefully it needs to be shortened not lengthened.
* ???
* Profit!

From my gut feeling and history of getting XJ projects done slowly, I'm betting it will tie down my parking space or your garage for a long time.

EDIT: oh, but if I buy the d30 with 4.10s on Monday night like I plan to, that'll be all-bolt-in. I want to weld some plate and gussets and stuff to the LCA brackets before I put it in there though. Then it's time to throw my 3.73-up carrier, master install kit, and 4.10 gear set on the classifieds... my axle swap has gone from simple to a complete flustercluck :roflmao:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

wahoo i got a bonus from raytheon too! and i'm not even working there, i'm still on "educational leave of absence" or some BS like that! I'm thinking... front locker time?

Aussie lockers are generally the best D30 lockers, right?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ken, weld the 8.8 tubes or they WILL spin.
Yeah, the tubes are getting welded either way, just not sure if I'm welding the perches myself or just tacking them on and throwing more beer on the pile :farmer:

ahh i see. i thought you had it ready to slap in there!
I wish! I ended up in the ER with metal in my eye and went back about 6 times over the next week and a half which sorta wrecked my schedule, and have been too busy at work to do much since then :gee:

Yo, lets be cool and put press-in pins in there to hold the tubes in!!!

Oh Ford :doh:
srsly :doh: what the hell were they thinking? Do I need to pull everything out of the housing so you can weld the tubes, or is it possible to do it with the gears/shafts still in?

For just welding the tubes, you can get away with leaving them in but its not really that much more to pull the shafts and carrier to avoid anything. plus its lighter to move around.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Damnit, i bought mine on some "badass" wheels for a bit more than that. Then again I did get a 5th so I guess that's worth the extra $$

if you want i can maybe help out / offer garage space in exchange for some beer, i've been itchin to even just wrench - it's been too busy of a week
I was going to offer help/garage space too once the wkend rolled around :laugh3: I just found out I won't have my Jeep back this wkend so I want something to work on. Guess it's gonna be a dirtbike tear down wkend.

Shouldn't take all that long. Can easily just roll the old axle out. Perches shouldn't be too bad, welding tubes... meh. I got soco, could tempt ross to stop by with a welder :eyes: :laugh3: Driveshaft... this is going in the XJ, right? Could probably make something work.

Wtf is up with people getting bonuses now, does the 'year end bonus' take several months to be given after the new year? maybe once the yearly #s have been calculated?? If that's the case then maybe I will still get something... oh come on good luck! :D
