THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Damnit, apparently the guys who have the condo where we have our bags league are not leaving work till like 4:30 today... aka I won't be getting out at like 3-3:30 for bags and beers like I planned. :(

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

is the bag league like the DSRL?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

never heard of bags or cornhole :-p. but i was pretty sure it wasn't like the DSRL.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

F*ck keyless entry from '91. I just spent 5 solid minutes of pressing the button and the doors not unlocking. (I just changed the battery about 2 weeks ago, and I can't just use the key as the alarm becomes armed once the doors are locked)

That is now why I am eating a sandwich made by the liquor store right next to my work.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Mark - think about installing an aftermarket remote keyless entry system yet? I fully agree on the 96 down RKE, if I wanted to point my remote at something from 6 feet away to make it work, I would be watching TV not trying to unlock the doors on my XJ.

EDIT: PS, I have a 91 full manual set now. Remind me to poke through it when I get home and check the schematics and I'll see if I can figure anything out. Do you want the alarm to still work or do you want it to just not go off when you use the key?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Time to stop using the keyless entry.

:D

Yep, if only I could disable it. My manual is locked in my Jeep, and last time I looked through, the keyless entry/alarm system was couple with other important features, and were through a few different fuses.

I want to put in a '97+ keyless entry system. (first time I've had keyless entry, and its actually pretty nice). I'm not sure how to do this, but I would rather use other stock parts, than a system that uses a colorful remote with thousands of buttons.

I remember someone was selling remotes and boards pretty cheap recently, I'm mad I didn't pick one up.

Ya, I have a full set for my '91 too, but I don't know jack when it comes to electrical really.
Ideally I would like to replace the keyless entry, but if you can figure a way so it doesn't go off when I use the key, that would be great. I think that is the only way the alarm goes off anyways, I've rocked it and nothing has happened.

i've done a few keyless installs, and theyre really not that bad. hell, you can pay 100 bucks for a best buy one and they usually install it for you for the 100 bucks.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Go underneath and un-plug the horns(assuming the alarm sounds the factory horns) and then open the door with the key.

I really don't want a best buy alarm, and I REALLY don't want anyone from best buy working on my car.

A year ago my friend had his '07 Camry in for a sound system, and they managed to fry the entire electrical system/computer. The car had to go back to the dealership and have the whole computer system replaced, and that was only a sound system. I don't want to imagine how much they can mess up doing a keyless entry system, and the mess they will make out of the wire harness.

It does sound the horns, but I don't know if it was because my battery was low, or what, but last time I tried starting it with the alarm on, it wouldn't let it run. (My green jeep doesn't stay running at first if I jump it unless I keep my foot on the gas. This did not work with the Blairwitch)

understandable.. and thats no bueno. but anyway, installing an aftermarket one isnt hard as long as youre confident with wiring. if you can wire up a stereo/amp/speakers/sub you can do a keyless system.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ya I would have no problem doing it myself. I did just do my headlights wire harness, and I used to install speakers/stereos/subs in my car and friend's cars back in highschool, which was when I really didn't know jack about much.

OK, I'll see if I can figure anything out. I'm pretty sure disabling the door sense on the thing should be very very easy, just finding the right wires and either disconnecting them or jumping them to power/ground. That's just a wild-ass guess at this point but it's how they usually work. As for 97+ stuff, I'll take a look at that too if I remember.

EDIT: PS, you have reminded me to finally get around to installing the alarm I got at the junkyard for ten bucks a while ago. Need to do that next time I'm home and it's light out at the same time.

just saw this on another forum:

i don't mean to piss colin (or others off) but the dodge styling never completely did it for me. i like it, but i tend to like GM lines better. but this one looks sweet. i usually think murdered out is dumb too. this one just pulls it off.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I bet the soldering on the PCB in that thing would make me :puke: but damn, nice price
