THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I was signed into the work VPN dammit! Warn me first!

Colin/Travis/anyone else - what yard are you guys thinking of hitting Saturday? Hollands?

:dunno:

Speaking of Hollands........any word on the ETA for the next all-ross-can-carry?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You probably can get away with an SPST and a DPDT, or two diodes, an SPST, and two SPDTs (much more common than DPDT automotive, nearly free at junkyards.)
I def could do it with a few extra SPDTs. I already drew out the schematic to do that. I have a handful of waterproof automotive SPDTs on order right now, but drawing it out with a DPDT just cleans stuff up. I will probably build the system with SPDTs and see how that works, then switch to an DPDT if I decide that I want to.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Colin - apparently my name is Mark now? :spin1: I didn't know any junkyards were even open on Sundays.

Ross - no word yet, hoping to hear at some point, I had actually forgotten entirely that I asked them.

Scott - ah, understandable.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Shit, had I known that, I would be so much broke-er right now, and would have so many more jeep parts in my apartment.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I know the answer to this one.

Colin, you hit quote multiple on my post the other day. You then quoted Ken's post. In doing so, you deleted the first half of his post, which included his

part, and left mine.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I know exactly what you mean Mark. i hate when it brings up a mutlie quote from days before if you click it but then end up not using right then.

Actually just re-did the schematic and cut out one of the relays. Got the plan down to 3 SPDTs. Should be easy as hell now. Gotta grab a handful of resistors too since I think making an open loop from 12V to gnd would draw a bit of current :laugh3: Oh a few diodes would be nice too... not sure if my cheapo lock thing is protected against feedback.. Or maybe use a LM741.... damnit this is getting more "complicated" again.

Everetts is?

Of all people I am surprised you didn't know that :)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

muffler and tailpipe are on. Cat is not because the flange connecting to the downpipe was a mess, and I could only really cut two off the "bolts" (probably 10 years since they actually looked like bolts). That flange is a pain in the ass, not really sure I can even get to cutting it all off without fubaring the flange, or taking the downpipe off.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

exhaust suck they never come apart easy, my jeep could use a WHOLE new exhaust from header back, i got like four holes in my muffler and it sounds like the header is leaking... im not really worried about it though

Yeah, Holland's is pretty out of my way so I only go there once in a very long while. You probably should verify that the remote controller will not allow both the LOCK and UNLOCK actuator outputs to go active at the same time, not knowing that is why I included the two diodes in the parts list, you can get clever and have the power disconnected with the SPST unless only one of them is on. Not sure you want to use an LM741, they aren't rated for driving relays, you'd need a driver transistor in between.

Try a dremel? I've found them very useful for stuff like the stem on top of a front XJ shock and cutting bolts in small hard to reach places, much easier to do fine work with them than an angle grinder.

Agreed, exhaust was my first BFH job on my XJ. I had to pretty much beat the thing flat to get it to pop off the output of the cat, the damn thing was frozen on there from 13 years of Massachusetts winters. The U-bolt was so rusted I couldn't even tell if the nuts had been square or hexagonal originally.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i just cut all the old crap out and start new, mark id just get a dif down pipe without the stupid flange

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ken, I see you are reading. I just broke my laptops ac to dc converter. I have an old HP one laying around and i am about to splice it into the dells plug. It puts out 19 volts versus 19.5 for the dell then like 3.14 versus 3.34 amps or something like that. Think it will totally underpower the laptop to the point of failure or does it simply charge the battery so the battery would act like a buffer?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

cmelo, you'll be fine. If the laptop can't power itself off that amount of current it just won't charge as fast or at worst, will blow up the HP power converter block. Just make sure you get negative/positive right and hope that the laptop doesn't talk to the power block via some stupid data line in the connector (believe me, I've seen it.)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Rob, I already have a Cat that has a flange on it. The cat is also about half the size of the one that is on there right now.
