THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Hmmmm, to buy this: http://www.quadratec.com/products/16192_251.htm

Or one of those cheaper [autozone] universal dash mount ones that are more like a choke cable and just pull out to give it throttle.

I am leaning toward the shifter mount RE one.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Waste of money. Go to the junkyard, rip a throttle cable out of a random vehicle, preferably one with a long cable+sheath, get free lawn mower on craigslist, remove throttle adjustment handle, put free lawn mower back on craigslist :D

Or maybe I can just raid my buddys back yard. I think he has at least one dead lawnmower out there. Good call.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I don't think his lugs will work for you... you don't have 9/16" studs do you?

Again, just to be sure, are your's 9/16"?

nope, which is why i haven't ordered yet.

they're 1/2-20 :) and the ones that I have came from Ebay, and are actually wicked nice. Don't ask me to look them up because I don't feel like it :gee:

go post all this crap in the tech thread...

:twak: NO

or use the shifter off a 10spd mountain bike or similar, essentially offers 10 different idle speeds. really easy to mount on the shifter ;)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

travis, thanks for the lug nut size confirmation. i'll go shopping when i get a chance.

that's a damn good idea for a hand throttle. i even have a bunch of old bike parts laying around. i will say that shifter cables are tiny compared to throttle cables.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

time to go get some food, when i get home i may go out to garage and pulll gas tank, by next weekend i want blue shell out and 98 in and have motor out of 98

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Anyone want to travel quick... to Mars?
How about 35 miles per second?

His rocket would use electricity to transform a fuel -- likely hydrogen, helium or deuterium -- into plasma gas that is heated to 51.8 million degrees Fahrenheit (11 million degrees Celsius). The plasma gas is then channeled into tailpipes using magnetic fields to propel the spacecraft.
That would send a shuttle hurtling toward the moon or Mars at ever faster speeds up to an estimated 35 miles (55 kilometers) per second until the engines are reversed.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yeah. i ordered last night.

5X forged joint with 5/8" bore, injection molded cup things, and RH 1.25-12 threaded shank
5X RH 1.25-12 jam nuts
5X RH 1.25-12 tube adapters for 1.5" ID DOM
1X joint adjuster tool
1X DOM sleeve with poly bushings (for the 2nd tranny mount on the D300)

5 joints for a 3 link??? And all RH thread??? Wtf, i need clarifacation on whats going on here.

yeah i'll be pissed too. but i want the parts. i expect to see them in 2-3 weeks, based on others' experiences.

Some people seem to have crappy luck with their shipping. My orders have come in like 2 weeks tops.

i just cross thread on whatever nuts i can find.

the best is when they cross thread/strip/spin when youre trying to remove them.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Huh. So they aren't. Never actually clicked on the summit links a few pages back... looks like I'm ordering just the U-joints.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So there is a tree outside the window that is about 50ft away. I can't see it the snow is coming down so hard.
wow, that's impressive. but still 5500x slower than light :-p
Psssh... I'm surprised tings don't blow apart at that speed, let along light speed.

He's keeping the stock upper axle side mount config. All RH as it is easier to carry a single spare, only one tap to chase threads if need be, and how often are you really going to be changing the setup? LH is really only need on something like a panhard, and even then isn't.

I was one of "those some people".

no problem.

And couldn't you just use the shifter with an extra Jeep throttle cable? What's to say you need to use the shifter cable? :dunno:

Okay. what is it, the RE superride UCA mount? You make all valid points about the threads. Once dailed in, itll probably never change but easy adjustablity is cool too. Ill have to think about this now when i order my joints, i even already have a spare RH matching Johnny Joint and i think a 1.25" RH tap.

Thanks Bill, now i have more things to decide on :D

I have no idea what it is, ask Travis it was his. ;)
I would have cut it off and run a 6th joint... Oh I did. :D

Keeping it simple is key. If for whatever reason you have an issue on the trail everyone will have a RH, not so true with a LH.

it won't fit inside the shifter. they're pretty small.

sucks about the volume of the white stuff falling from the sky

on the topic of my suspension, you beat me to replying but nailed it. those are your thoughts, afterall :farmer:

i've heard enough horror stories about ballistic to be wary. we'll see what kind of experience i have. it will be my first, after all.
