I cant wait to wheel my mj.
Armor first,probably next week, then lift and tires, maybe by april,unless i find some more good buys.
Its not even built yet, and i already have better (and more) parts than the olive drab 2-door!

Don't you have an MJ? I thought you just got one.

I did, but I decided it was already lifted and needs some work (which is what my friend wanted) so I am selling it to him. I decided to go with an XJ for my DD. But this thread is now making me want to go back to an MJ. :laugh3:

An XJ would be more useful for me. An MJ would be more what I want.

I'm bringing up an age old debate.

Debating getting a 5-spd with the new shell. Always wanted to try wheelin a 5-spd. If I don't like it, I can switch it out for one of the 3 AW4s I have.

Sub $1500. Would like the floors/frame to be intact. Couldn't care less about the rockers.

I honestly wouldn't even have a problem with that if the body was mint.

get one with a good frame. who cares if it even runs good? bump has more parts than god. i'm sure we could get it going cheaply enough. i would say look in the sub-750 range. i don't think i'd spend more than that if i were in your shoes and looking to completely rework it. and even if the floors are bad, so what. you have a welder. just get one with non-rusty body and frame (less the floors/rockers...)

I want an NV4500 in a comanche.

i support this effort. i'd even volunteer to help you install/make adapter plates (if you don't want to buy.)

my take on ax-15 (or nv4500) vs aw4: geared lower, easier to rebuild, and for god's sakes, offroading is a SPORT. it's even more of a sport when you have extra levers/handles to control.

Agreed. My vote - find one with a clean bed/cab/frame and the transmission you want. 4.0s are not hard to find, you'll be swapping axles anyways, the rest is stuff you can rip off any old XJ sitting in the junkyard.

Oh, and if you get one with a clean rear bumper and are gonna wheel it, sell me the rear bumper and get a good strong one :eyes:

i didn't say nice condition. i said nice body. if i were to start over, my ideal purchase would be a trashed driveline, trashed axles, who gives a rat's ass about the interior. i just don't want any rust.

Well I suppose that is more what I should have said. I can replace driveline. Actually i can replace floors too. So who am I joking. I will just buy some rustbucket again and replace the floors again.

Edit: I want to drive my Jeep damnit! Once I start driving that again there is a decent chance I will just say XXXX it and buy another POS. Then I will just have to have one POS running at any given time in order to get to work.

i used to go all the time with billy. then his jeep went down... then mine went down... and is still down. him and i used to always be some of the only people that showed up at nearly every run. (this was when i was on 31's and a rear locker and 3" lift.) easy to keep reliable...
