THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i wish i could afford an MJ, the one thats for sale in the classifieds doesnt seem like a bad deal

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Kinda wish I'd paid a little less, though it was only 400 out of pocket (the other 400 he was gonna pay me because we did some weekend work helping a third friend with a consulting gig and got paid unexpectedly) so I think I did OK. I definitely can't complain too much, I should be able to make it way better than my XJ was when I bought it for less total than I paid for the XJ up front, now that I actually (mostly...) know what I'm doing on a stockish Jeep.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My only question is if the MJ will make a reliable DD for 65+ miles per day. I think it will, plus I can fix it if it doesn't.

Granted by the time I am actually DD'ing the MJ the XJ will have the axles done and be drive-able so if the MJ decides to be angry I can just take the XJ... unless it decides to be angry too.

If they both start being angry together alot then I will just have to bite the bullet and sell one of the 2 rigs and pick up something else newer again I guess. :dunno: but I highly doubt it will come to that.

I think the MJ will start a new life with ALL new steering, new shocks, new ball joints/hubs. Well depending what has been done recently :) Hopefully all of that has been done :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So, I'm debating whether i should yank the rear axle out of the jeep all together? It will be easier to pull the carrier/replace pinion bearings, and I can put some new spring plates on that will also be bumpstops. It will be easier to cut off my old shock mounts, and weld new ones on correctly.

It will also be a lot easier to do the rear discs on it too.

I think you answered your own question.:anon:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

dont do it. doing the bearings is easy as hell under the jeep, same as the discs. dont forget youll have to do things like get new u-bolts

Ya, I knew that. I'm actually on Ruffstuff's sight right now looking at new 5/8" u-bolts, which I currently have holding my jeep on, as well as their plates.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

shut up, 1/2" thick UBE's with 6 1/2" Gr8 bolts

:D

I have no desire to lift my rear 1/2" more, its already higher than the front, and I don't want to go back to muscle car rake.

Plus, the UBE's are $50 more than the u-bolts and plates.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'd like a money tree. mhmm

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

mark, i'm with billy. yank the axle. u-bolts are $16 for all hardware at your local fleet-pride. i've used like 4 sets. no issues. just tell them the size you need.
