should i be concerned that i was able to pull my old carrier bearings off my spool by hand?

i did that on the dana 30 i got from travis. threw it back in the jeep and wheeled for another year without thinking about it. then sold it to some kid

So I think i'm going to take swap axles from the xj to the mj and vise versa. Unless someone has an axle to give me or a better idea i'm going to do it wednesday.

what do you have in each right now? beam+d35 in the MJ and 30/8.25 in the XJ?

I'd swap em too. Make sure to fix the XJ's transmission mount with bubblegum.

Yep that's the combo. The beam's bearings and brakes are TOAST. I know the brakes on the xj are good, don't know about the bearings but they are working for me now. I'll check them tomorrow.

Tomorrow I buy

Lisle hose pinchers
25-26mm craftsman wrenches(means I will have from like 4mm to 26 now)
air chuck and schrader valve tool

I got some sockets and something else I forget too a couple days ago off ebay. My tool box is filling up quick...

No just swapping front axles. The calipers are junk in the mj so my brakes grabbed but I drove it anyways(doesn't matter since I refuse to buy new calipers anyway) and toasted all the outer junk. The rear brakes in the mj are great. I even fixed the E-brake in it.

It SHOULD go fairly well. If there's one thing i've done alot is axle swaps. Just going put my newly bought hose pinchers on the brake lines. Tear both axles out and swap/bolt back together.... piece of cake?

yeah, i've done my fair share of axle swaps. make sure you clean the threads on the u-bolts if you're re-using them... but you really need to get new ones...

If someone could find me an XJ width 44 or 30 geared 4.88 for cheap I would have a D30 with 3.07s for ya.

I have a 8.25 if ever needed (I am pretty sure it has good brakes and such) with 3.07s but I think something about the 8.25 is angry
