THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Hmmm, I have come to the crude realization that the odds of me finding a geared axle or getting mine re-geared by the 13th are slim to none.

Couple that with the fact that I really would rather not regear the 30, and instead want to upgrade and then regear makes me think I may just get the 9" fixed and drive the Jeep 2wd style for a while. During which time I will shop for and/or build a 44.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

scott, building a 44 wouldn't be a bad idea... but it depends how often and how hard you want to wheel. a 30 might do it if you're not into really womping your sh!t

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Well Anthony, let me explain. I have been wheeling very mildly ever since I got the Jeep. The past few yeas I havent even been able to drive the Jeep. I like the idea of 33/34s followed by 36's down the road. Then in a couple years maybe make the jump to tons. But regardless, the Jeep isn't my DD anymore. A cage will likely be a necessity. :D

So yeah, If I need to I will be willing to take it easy on a 30. If I can build something that I can beat on... oh, I will beat on it  So I think a HP44 would be a good idea. I just wish it was nicer out so I could set up a table outside and leave it and work when I come home at nights. Maybe I will set up a small shop type thing in the old tent that the Jeep used to be in. That and I wish HP44's came in a 61" width with 5x4.5 lug pattern.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

scott, fair enough. you can do quite a lot without NEEDING a cage though....

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Wait, seriously? For one or two axles? In or out of the Jeep?

Given that price I'm strongly considering just buying an inch-pound torque wrench etc and learning to do it myself :scared:

Dude, where are you looking at install prices?

That is the cheapest I've seen around here. Local shops want $750 per axle.

baystate did mine for like 5 something in the jeep with an install kit and wheel bearings in that price

If I get quoted like $5xx for gears/parts from baystate maybe I will just regear the 30 so I can at least wheel something for the time being.

Wzoreks gets 250 each.

Kyle drove all the way out to westfield to get his done there because it was such a good deal.

most places out here are really resonable.
