THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I am 200 miles from my XJ. I wish this was not the case.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

wait. that's the whole reason your rear axle was acting funny, or what?

If so... hahaha man I hate it when I do something that dumb

No, I made a post saying "hmmmm, my axle must really be f***ed. I have the rear axle jacked up and driveshaft disconnected... and I can't turn the tires by hand..." Then as I clicked 'submit' I realized I have actually been using my ebrake lately and it was engaged and that's why I couldn't turn the wheels.

My 8.25 still has tons of slop, once the 9" is in I am going to open it up and see what the hell happened. Swap is going well though, 1 hour in and I am officially at the half way point right now. Mind you putting it back together may take a bit longer cause I can't install an axle with a sawzall :gee: I swear that AC sawzall was a great purchase, don't know why I didn't drop the $80 years ago. Would have made cutting through exhaust (and all other car work) so much easier than how we did it back in the day... with a hack saw and plenty of time. That and bleeding the brakes takes more time. Oh well, at least I will be done by the time it's 10PM today, unlike half my other projects.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

oh. That's a bit less retarded...

yeah, I love a good sawzall, made my last exhaust fix much easier, and junkyard runs too.

Looks like I'm not going to make it to the M&G, I'm still in Warren VT and unlikely to get back till like 9 or 10pm.

EDIT: hey bob - http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1022150 :eyes:

So far no amusing replies

So axle is in. I love easy projects. Now I just have to wait until someone can help bleed the brakes. Then I gotta get it trailered to the shop to get the axle rebuilt and the d30 geared. Then I will be good to go. On that note, I think the 9" gave me a bit of lift too. Now I gotta figure out how to install the shackle relocation brackets to net as little lift as possible.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

im gonna be parting out the 95, including all the 1 ton stuff and wheels/tires with the exception of clayton arms and dpg leafs, im gonna build the 98 on 35's im gonna keep the lockers from the 93 and run them in it, then part out the rest of that one, so whoever wants crap from the 95 post up before i put it in for sale section

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

you still got that track bar or did it get beat up in the last run? I forget.

Damnit, I wish I knew your rig... hmmm, so tons... I assume full width? Are the tires the 38's? gah, maybe I will just wait till it hits the for sale section so I can see what you actually have :dunno: If the tires are in the 36" range I think I would be interested.

On that note, I measured my tires right now. They are kinda getting low on tread, sitting at 31.5" or so. So yeah, 33's are no longer 33's

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hmmm... I'm on stock control arms still. I think I'm gonna give that a bit of thought though. Definitely interested in the track bar.

there 38's that measure 36's, mounted on 16.5x10 stazworks doublebeadlocks with 2" backspacing

what lug pattern? I assume they are not 5x4.5 if you are running tons :) Though that may just mean spacer/adaptors are in order. How much tread the tires got left (hell, what kinda tires in general)? And how much would you be looking for the tires vs all of it together?

And I said damnit too when I read the "except for" stuff.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Rob - I need to consider my finances, whether I need them, and a few other things before I give a real answer.

Scott - I wouldn't want to run 38s/36s/whatever on a d30, from what I've seen on here and elsewhere that's asking for trouble.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have heard 36's are OK, esp if the d30 is open. I wouldn't/don't plan on pushing it beyond a 36" tire. I would just take it easy* and bring plenty of new shafts/parts.

Oh and an update: I just measured the tires again now that they are under the Jeep and they are coming in right around 31". So that just means that even true 33's will be that much better... and it means that 4.88's will be VERY fun until I get new tires :D:D

*Taking it easy probably means that I will drive like a dick until something breaks (so I know the breaking point of the axle) or I get a D44 to throw under the front.

Edit: I wonder how well that 9" would hold up to me trying to smoke the tires I have. I would love to leave one mean posi brakestand down the road with 12.5" wide tires before I buy new ones... :D
