THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

3/16" for bracing/plating, nothing less then 1/4" for brackets. ive almost convinced myself to do 3/8"ths brackets for the 60 even though i have enough 1/4" laying around.

i think im gunna try to make nacfest the last run of black jeep roughly as it is now. after that, ill find somewhere to set the jeep up and strip the axles/suspension and do all the bracing and 3 link.

For realz? That wicked dumb. Looks like I might have to look into the HF junk then. I just need something for like 3 or 4 small projects.
I am thinking about picking up the HF tire mounting tool, but will probably steer clear of the bender.

I would pick up the HF bender but I want a tube bender that I can use for a cage... which kinda rules out the HF equipment. I have a couple I am looking at. Leaning towards the gottrikes style B set. Should be a good starting point at the very least (well, Style B unless I pick up a drill press in the near future).

Just wait until they have it on sale if you want a better price.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

the way to do it is just buy the dies you want and build your own bender. F that HF junk, i dont want kinked junk.
which is why I would buy the gottrikes setup. If I have a drillpress by the time I get around to building my bender... well then I will just pay for the plans and other machined parts (oh, and when I said style B in my last post I meant style B plus all the drilled parts... if I had a drill press I would buy the style B.)

Speaking of which, has anyone had experience with the gottrikes?

So I looked at the trackbar bracket crap for a minute today while I took a break from shoveling...I've got some pretty serious work to do if my Jeep's gonna have a shot at going to Lobster's next month. ughh
:( that sucks. Have you tried drinking a beer and throwing a hammer at it yet? Might fix it.

I have a big ass hunk of 1/2" if you want to REALLY go overkill :D

As I said, I have the 1/4" and 3/16". That should be enough for now.... Though I am sure you weren't talking to me when you said that.

I gotta admit, I love getting smallish pieces of 3/16 and 1/4"+ for free. Great thing is that now that I plan on starting my build I should be able to pick up scrap size pieces of any thickness for free. Huzzah!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

haha yeah, I just sorta want to offload this bigass chunk of metal stock, it's just making a smallish hole in my wallet and a really good doorstop right now. I went for 1/2" plate for my spring plates because... well... I was gonna go 1/4" or 3/8" and then couldn't remember if the stock ones were that thickness, and I can't bend that stuff, so I said screw it, I'll use 1/2" and never worry about it again. And even if I tossed the remainder of the bar stock off a bridge, I'd be spending a little more than half what the JKS U-bolt plates cost
